Michael A – Achromatic [Genesis Music] The latest from Michael A's Genesis Music finds the label boss himself back in the spotlight with a brand new single. The Belarus based artist broke through this year with an EP on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and now rounds the year out with an excellent new single entitled ‘Achromatic’. Michael’s best work remains his EP for Sudbeat but this definitely comes quite close to it. A warm, rolling groove gets adorned with a variety of emotive elements from vocal motifs, sparkling chimes and soaring synths. A short break adds just the right amount of grit without losing the vibe before the groove returns for an epic finale. No doubt one of Michael’s most poignant creations yet and a great sign as 2018 moves closer. Highly Recommended. Dustin Nantais – Apathy [Manual Music] Dustin Nantais makes a much welcome return to Manual Music this week with a new single. The Canadian artist has been quiet for the better part of 2017 as he prepares for the launch of his new label in 2018. Luckily he’s found the time to craft this arpeggiated gem entitled ‘Apathy’. I do see/hear a lot of people calling for the death of arp drive tracks but I'm not one of them. It was a huge trend but a quite enjoyable one and when it’s done well still incredibly pleasing. ‘Apathy’ is one such track with enough variation and playful energy to make for a lively dance floor romp. The grandiose, almost cinematic break is unabashedly epic but it’s so short that it works incredibly well. Great to see Dustin back on Manual Music and be on the lookout for a new imprint from him in 2018. Antrim – The Good of the Past [Or Two Strangers] The latest release from Or Two Strangers finds label boss Antrim back in the spotlight with a brand new EP. The Argentinean artist has had his best year to date, highlighted by releases on Asymmetric Recordings, MNL and One Of A Kind. Now making a much anticipated return to Or Two Strangers Antrim presents his new EP entitled ‘The Good Of The Past’. Getting underway with title and showcase piece Antrim shows off his versatility with a unique tech-prog hybrid. Pulsating with fluid electronics the framework is robust as serene synths and waves of percussion slowly shape the narrative. The main break strips down to a calming soundscape as effervescent electronics and smooth chord changes build an emotive yet dramatic environment, ultimately leading to a soaring finale. The companion piece ‘Guinean’ sits in a more contemporary space with cosmic arps and cross cultural vocals setting the tone. Thick slabs of bass power the foundation as the spaced out storyboard breaks down i Read More

Fusing progressive, techno and deeper sounds is something that comes naturally to Fernando and it's given his discography a broad scope. The lead track 'Blooming Era' shows his versatility once again with its strong meditative qualities and linear techno sensibilities. Not lost in the infinite loops is musicality, as a gorgeous complement of chimes layers the pulsating framework with vocal refrains adding their own emotive charm. The EP's second selection and also its title track 'Gravity' comes in quirky with a playful energy and mountains of funk. Backed by a romping, house inspired groove, it's Read More

Now presenting his first new music of 2017, Ezequiel makes his much anticipated Clubsonica debut with 'Soul Words' alongside remixes from Erdi Irmak, Ezequiel Anile and Stage Van H. Ezequiel has spent the better part of 2017 retooling his sound and 'Soul Words' showcases this beautifully. Deep and groovy from the outset, it's a piece built on timeless motifs and enchanting soundscapes. Subtle arps ebb and flow through the framework as waves of drums and vibrant electronics steal the air. A soulful break serves as the perfect centrepiece, oozing class as delicate modulation builds anticipation for a buzzing finale. The first interpretation of 'Soul Words' is provided by Erdi Irmak. The Turkish artist made his debut Read More
Lily Pita – Come to Me [Soundteller Records] The latest from Deersky’s Soundteller Records finds Lily Pita continuing her amazing streak with a new single entitled ‘Come With Me’. The Indonesian artist has had an incredible year highlighted by releases on Bedrock Records and Glasgow Underground. Now fresh off an EP on Canada’s Strange Town Recordings, Lily makes her much anticipated Soundteller debut alongside remixes from Hot TuneiK, Paul Hamilton and Silinder. Although Lily has found a place in the progressive house underground her productions are broader in scope than that label suggests. ‘Come With Me’ is an excellent example with it’s quirky hooks, rolling arps and funky groove. Unabashedly epic at points, synths soar and modulation follows suit for surefire dance floor magic. Hot TuneiK has been popping up on Soundteller quite a lot recently. Just last week his remix of ‘Broken Melodies’ by Julian Rodriguez and Frankie M was released and now across two versions he reinvents ‘Come With Me’. The Read More
Uncloak – Terrafirme [Timeless Moment] The latest from Morttagua's Timeless Moment imprint welcomes 'Uncloak' back to the label for their debut EP. The Brazilian duo first appeared on the label with a contribution to the 'Unique Moment' Vol. 1 collection which was released in February of this year. Uncloak now returns for the most anticipated release of their young career with 'Terrafirme'. Spread out over four tracks the release shows the full range of Uncloak's studio repertoire. Beginning with 'Gayatheia' you get a feel for how the duo creates contrasting moods. Tough, punishing beats and warped sounds set the tone but the main break brings a hopeful vibe with cinematic scapes and poignant motifs. The second selection 'Cratos' is unabashedly epic with one of the biggest builds I think I've heard all year. Definitely more on the techno tip it complements the lead perfectly with its growling swells, grainy percussion and infectious, chugging groove. The EP's halfway point brings its title and showcase piece 'Terrafi Read More
Mad Bear – Debris Of Broken Dream [Symmetric Records] Symmetric Records returns after a seven month hiatus with a much anticipated single from Mad Bear. We last heard from the Dutch imprint in May of this year with a two track EP from label boss Oscar Holgado. I had often wondered if the label had disappeared permanently but this week they make a triumphant return with ‘Debris Of Broken Dream’ alongside remixes from Ewan Rill and Monojoke. Mad Bear made his Symmetric debut on the label’s ‘Shapes’ compilation series and now returns for his first official single. After listening to his previous work I have say that this is his most interesting effort to date. Everything from tripped out, cosmic effects to tribal infused drums and enlightening vocal phrases make this a captivating eight and a half minute journey. The remixes come from two of the progressive scenes most tried and tested talents in Ewan Rill and Monojoke. First up Russian artist Ewan Rill goes deep and groovy with a warm, spacious foundation and infectious r Read More
Nicholas Van Orton & Niko Fantin – Oso Polar [Balkan Connection South America] The latest from Balkan Connection South America finds label boss Nicholas Van Orton teaming up with Niko Fantin for a two track EP. The Argentinean duo have worked together in the past, most recently in September of 2015 on their ' A Box of Chocolates' EP. Now over two years later the veterans come together once more on 'Oso Polar'. The release begins with the gritty 'Grapes & Orange Juice'. There's a lot of interesting elements running through the track. From an evolving vocal sample to wavy, buzzing synths and two perfectly placed breaks. It makes for a great dance floor sensibility and it's chunky groove keeps the momentum charged from start to finish. The companion and also title piece 'Oso Polar' lowers the tempo for a deeper, groovier affair. Bubbly synths and a cool, vocal storyboard drive the piece into a very well constructed break. Tension, melody and just the right amount of trippy flair make it an ideal centrepiece before the liquid like framework returns for a smo Read More

Amidst much praise Chris then went on the release original music on Stellar Fountain, Clinique Recordings and Bonzai Music.
