Perhaps best known for his productions on Mara’s Choo Choo label, Chris also appeared on Renaissance, Automatic Records and our own Release Records imprint during what many consider to be the golden era of Progressive House. Following an eight year hiatus Chris reappeared in April of this year with a new EP on Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Amidst much praise Chris then went on the release original music on Stellar Fountain, Clinique Recordings and Bonzai Music. Now with the progressive scene buzzing Chris presents the launch of his new imprint ‘If You Wait’ with a two track EP entitled ‘Mirage’. You definitely want to put your best foot forward when launching a label and Chris has certainly done that here. Beginning with ‘Mirage’ we’re treated to a deep, cross-cultural creation. Backed by a dark chugging groove, percussive elements come in waves as spiritual vocals and Chris’ distinctive rhythmic structure takes charge. The narrative evolves from dark and mysterious to emotive and hopeful during the main break, teasing the senses just enough before a stripped back drop and driving conclusion. A masterpiece from Chris. The companion piece ‘Atlas’ comes in deeper and more deliberate. Distinctive bass stabs carve out a brooding low end as dark electronics and neatly tailored percussion fill in the framework. Atmospheric waves shift the storyboard into mystical territory before short and timely break resets the groove for a stellar drop.
