Mad Bear – Debris Of Broken Dream [Symmetric Records]

Symmetric Records returns after a seven month hiatus with a much anticipated single from Mad Bear. We last heard from the Dutch imprint in May of this year with a two track EP from label boss Oscar Holgado. I had often wondered if the label had disappeared permanently but this week they make a triumphant return with ‘Debris Of Broken Dream’ alongside remixes from Ewan Rill and Monojoke.

Mad Bear made his Symmetric debut on the label’s ‘Shapes’ compilation series and now returns for his first official single. After listening to his previous work I have say that this is his most interesting effort to date. Everything from tripped out, cosmic effects to tribal infused drums and enlightening vocal phrases make this a captivating eight and a half minute journey.

The remixes come from two of the progressive scenes most tried and tested talents in Ewan Rill and Monojoke. First up Russian artist Ewan Rill goes deep and groovy with a warm, spacious foundation and infectious rhythms. The main break proves quite memorable with its buzzing, tension filled build and funk fuelled drop. Massive stuff from Ewan.

Closing the release out is Polish artist Monojoke who is a perfect choice to remix the track. His way with melodious walls of sound and cosmic design works wonders with the main elements. Bringing more musicality into the mix but with a quirky flair is what makes it such a memorable affair. Brilliant remix from Monojoke and a hugely successful return for Symmetric Records. Looking forward to see what comes next.
