F-Act – Whirlpool 2017 Edition Part 1 [LuPS Records] The latest release on LuPS Records finds the label showcasing new interpretations of F-Act's 'Whirlpool'. Originally released in March of 2012 it has become not only a classic of the Swiss artist but also a highlight in the Dutch labels discography. Still holding a place in F-Act's Beatport Top 10 best sellers it was a defining moment in the career of the Swiss artist. As progressive house continues to enjoy a resurgence of sorts LuPS has chosen the perfect time to showcase a remastered version of the original along with new interpretations from Loquai, Höhnflug and Analog Effect. There are few in the progressive house underground with a longer more extensive discography than Loquai. The Russian born, German based artist has contributed immensely to the genre over his 10 year career and is more than an excellent choice to update 'Whirlpool'. Although the tempo remains at the original 128 BPM, Loquai brings a much groovier sensibility to the track with a spacious, chugging bass lin Read More
Sebastian Busto – Kairos [SoulArt Recordings] The latest release from SoulArt Recordings welcomes Sebastian Busto back to the label for his debut single. The Argentinean artist first appeared on the Hungarian imprint in June of this year with a remix of 'Drops In A Downpour' by East Cafe. Now making his much anticipated return Sebastian presents his latest studio work 'Kairos' alongside remixes from Analog Jungs, Chris Drifter, Forniva and Lucas Rossi. Known for his pure progressive sound Sebastian has become a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo having appeared in the sets of the legendary DJ on multiple occasions. Here he delivers one of his most diverse cuts to date in 'Kairos'. Cross-cultural motifs highlight the production as a rolling, key changing groove, detailed percussion and mystical electronics carry the magical nine minute journey. SoulArt always brings an extra-large remixer selection and all four artists do a great job beginning with Analog Jungs. The Argentinean duo keep the main themes nicely intact but lower t Read More
Subandrio & Danidu – Monsoon [Soundteller Records] Following their five year anniversary Deersky's Soundteller Records returns with a brand new single from Subandrio and Danidu. This is a first time collaboration from the Sri Lankan duo and just Danidu's third ever release following appearances on Hydrogen and Maintain Replay Records. Subandrio now considered one of the most cutting edge talents in progressive house returns to Soundteller for his 8th appearance. Together the duo present 'Monsoon' alongside remixes from Ian Dillon and Lucas Rossi. I'd not heard of Danidu until now but this meeting of creative minds is sure to put him on the progressive house map. The sound does differ quite a bit from what Subandrio does which is really nice. The production is a bit sleeker and less effervescent with the focus on smooth grooves and delicate melodies. Catchy vocal elements seem to carry the narrative at precisely the right moments and the swirling ball of atmospheric dust which hovers above plays off the subtle arps perfectly. A pu Read More
Ape Sapiens – Colifa [Stellar Fountain] After a week off Stellar Fountain returns in a big way with a new single from Ape Sapiens. The Argentinean artist last appeared on the Hungarian imprint in December of last year with his 'Cosmic Archaeology' single. 2017 has been filled with more great music from Ape with releases on Massive Harmony and PHW Elements standing out. Now returning to Stellar Fountain Ape Sapiens presents his latest studio creation 'Colifa' alongside remixes from Pacco & Rudy B and Tero Civill. Quirky and cool, the original sets the tone for the entire release with its driving groove, distinctive synths and metallic percussion. The energy is supreme throughout, which a short break keeps nicely intact. Waves of effects dominate a blistering final act which cap off this peak time monster quite nicely. Making their label debut Pacco & Rudy B provide the first remix on the release. Always proficient remixers, the Croatian duo rework the foundation into a rippling, cavernous groove which gives the mix Read More

Now stepping up for his debut on One Of A Kind Luke presents his newest studio creation 'Tomorrow' alongside remixes from Pacco & Rudy B and Nicholas Van Orton. The original mix exemplifies everything you come to expect from great progressive music. Warm, wonderfully contoured grooves, dulcet themes and a touch of drama at precisely the right the moments. The broken beat section during the break is quite lovely, a bit of a throwback in a way as it perfectly builds anticipation with rolling drums eventually leading to a smooth melodious finale. The first remix comes from Pacco & Rudy B who are making their second appearance on the label. The Croatian duo first appeared on the Swedish imprint in February of this year with a remix o Read More

The Ukrainian artist has found a home on Dear Deer where his unique take on progressive house has flourished. Now making his much anticipated debut on Making You Dance, Vlad presents his latest single entitled 'Desire' alongside a remix from Nathan Clement. Always on the cutting edge, 'Desire' looks to be one of Vlad's all time best productions with its growling groove, distinctive lead theme and cosmic effects. The sense of story is wonderful with multiple shifts in energy as the piece ebbs and flows through several transitional sections highlighted by a menacing break and powerful drop. The lone remix is provided by Nathan Clement who is also making his label debut. The US artist owns a short but tidy discography highlighted by releases on DearDeer and Balkan Connection's BC2 division. Nathan opens the groove up considerably on his 'Desire' interpretation for a more spacious fee Read More

A strong 2017 has seen chart topping releases come courtesy of Beat Boutique, Flow Vinyl and Proton Music while releases on John Digweed's Bedrock Records highlight his extensive discography. Fueled by an evolving creative process the Greek artist has remained at the forefront of electronic music for over fifteen years. Now Dousk showcases his studio repertoire once again with his latest three track sound story 'West of Dub'. The EP's title cut begins the journey into deep, cavernous grooves and funk fuelled rhythms. Esoteric vocals add mightily to the narrative, forever shifting the focus as dubby tones and wonky stabs fill in the framework. A timely break brings Read More

Known for his immaculately produced progressive creations Forerunners ‘Vacant Deception’ comes in as one of his most heartfelt to date. On a backbone of warm, round beats runs a gorgeous atmospheric storyboard and subtle, melodic motifs. It’s a hazy wall of effervescent bliss leading into the break which brings both moments of drama and emotion. Perfectly crafted it’s builds as sweeping noise and spiralling arps coverage for a magic sonic moment, ultimately leading to an exhilarating finale. It would be hard to come up with two more capable Read More
Huminal – Anger Management EP [ICONYC] John Johnson’s ICONYC imprint goes electronica this week with a brand new EP from Huminal. The Dutch duo first appeared on the US imprint in February of 2016 with a remix of ‘Obscure’ by Stergios. Subsequent releases on Einmusika and MNL have solidified Huminal as a premiere act in the progressive house underground. We now get to see a slightly different side of them with their three track offering for ICONYC entitled ‘Anger Management’. This is a release that I wish more labels would take on, seeing a talented duo like Huminal operate outside of the confines of a traditional club track is quite exciting. The title piece is quite beastly with its broken beats, smooth bass swells and crisp design. The vocal storyboard is incredibly haunting, chopped and processed to perfection, setting a dramatic, anticipatory tone before a devilish lead theme builds to a boil during the main break. Cutting edge sounds from Huminal here. The remaining two cuts equally excite, beginnin Read More
Paul Deep – Shakti [Sound Avenue] The latest release from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Paul Deep back to the label for a brand new single. The Argentinean artist last appeared on the Belgian imprint in August with a contribution to the 'Correlation' Vol.1 collection. Firmly established as one of his country's best progressive house talents Paul owns releases on Dopamine Music and Or Two Strangers along with routine support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now making his much anticipated return to Sound Avenue the Argentine presents his latest single entitled 'Shakti' alongside remixes from Eran Aviner and Matias Chilano. The original mix leads the release off and sits as Paul's most accomplished work to date. From its buzzing, atmospheric beginnings the piece moves through waves of tribal percussion and cross-cultural motifs. Haunting and beautiful in equal measure, the vocal theme sends a spiritual message from its impassioned core. Delicate strums prove soulful, adding the perfect harmonic comple Read More
