Sebastian Busto – Workaholic [Replug]

Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Sebastian Busto to the label with a two track artist showcase. Widely regarded for crafting the deep and progressive spectrum's of house, the Buenos Aires resident has long been a favourite of world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. The Argentinean artist also lays claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Magician On Duty, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden. Now making his much anticipated Replug debut, Sebastian presents his 'Workaholic' EP.

Sebastian's ability to craft evocative musical journeys is second to none. How he incorporates emotion in subtle yet profound ways is what makes him such a unique producer, and not to mention a favourite of the underground's most prominent tastemakers. The lead track 'Workaholic' displays that perfectly, with its warm, rolling groove and sleek, rhythmic narrative. Deep, pulsating and full of intricate detail, the first act builds with a veteran's refinement. Developing in waves, exotic drums and subtle shades and tones fill in the framework, before a short break shifts the narrative into emotive territory, as impassioned chord changes and charming effects steal the air. Wondrously musically, melodic fragments carry into the centrepiece, heightening the senses, eventually giving way to a pensive roll and storyboard of astral designs and organic percussion.

The companion piece 'Journey to Ixtlan' follows suit with an equally impressive display of rhythm, groove and musicality. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around cross cultural motifs and percussive drive. Worldly vocal wails fill the air with a soulful charm, as melodic fragments elevate mood into a well timed second act. Playing out over two magical minutes, the centrepiece is a story within a story, wondrously imaginative and incredibly compelling, as bassy rumblings fade into wistful overlays, before smoothly segueing into a vibrant finale.

In a year that has seen Sebastian unveil his most satisfying work to date, he continues in auspicious fashion with 'Workaholic'. A fitting Replug debut, with two productions that will not only satisfy the most discerning progressive house aficionados, but also stand the test of time incredibly well.
