Presenting their first release of the summer season, D.J. MacIntyre’s SLC-6 Music unveils a new EP from RYAN (CU) and ODAX. Hailing from Cuba but now based in Miami and Madrid respectively, RYAN (CU) and ODAX have both achieved measurable success across their solo careers. With an emphasis on the groove and emotion of progressive house, the duo’s joint discography contains a litany of highlights. Releases via Balkan Connection, Freegrant Music, The Soundgarden and RYAN’s own La Cura De La Semana imprint sit as standout projects, while world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have chimed in with support along the way. Having previously worked together on a single for Ekabeat Music, RYAN (CU) and ODAX now combine their extensive forces for SLC-6 with ‘Sun Flares’, alongside remixes from Dr Green and Miguel Ante.

Beginning with the groovy qualities of ‘Sun Flares’, the duo continues to explore the progressive blueprints from which they have made their name. A DJ friendly intro sets the pace for swing heavy rhythms and driving percussion to layer a chunky bassline. As the main break commences, the duo reaffirms their ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge, as robotized vocals and cinematic pads create a surreal atmosphere, before confidently returning to the groove for driving finale. Beneath the powerful qualities of ‘Sun Flares' lies the deep hypnotic vibes of 'Solar Storms'. RYAN (CU) and ODAX expound their progressive vision here, as rolling rhythms and wispy atmospheres blanket tough beats and spacious effects. Clever textural co-actions and swing heavy chord stabs set up a spoken word break, sure to captivate the dancefloor with its misty intrigue, before shifting energy into a grooved out final act.

SLC-6 label manager and rising Sri Lankan talent Dr Green follows his latest single ‘Suspect’ (with Rockka) with a mystical interpretation of ‘Sun Flares’. Afro-styled percussion leads the charge here, proving to be club-effective, while a backdrop of evolving textures, cross-cultural motifs and timely vocals fuel a spectacular finale. Rounding out the release with the lone interpretation of ‘Solar Storms’ is Miguel Ante who makes his label debut. Off the strength of releases via Balkan Connection, Kitchen Recordings and UV, the Bolivian artist crafts a buoyant energetic rendition that excels on its use of escalating chord stabs with just the right amount of trippy effects.
