Jose Tabarez – Mindset [Stellar Fountain]

Jose Tabarez returns to Stellar Fountain this week with a brand new single. The Hungarian artist has had three releases thus far in 2018, most recently on Mystic Carousel Records. Now showcasing his first solo original of the year Jose unveils ‘Mindset’ alongside remixes from Paul Angelo & Don Argento, Dowden and Greenage.

Jose’s always been one of the more unique progressive producers out there. His quirky style is something all his own and his latest ‘Mindset’ showcases that beautifully. From it’s powerful beats to brooding bass there’s a commanding presence about it. The main themes brighten it up considerably, quite catchy and whimsical in a way, carrying the eight minute journey perfectly.

Paul Angelo & Don Argento have risen into the progressive music spotlight over the last year. The Cyprus based duo made a name for themselves on Russia’s Clinique Recordings and have since appeared on Movement and Soundteller. They make their Stellar Fountain debut in style with a deadly interpretation of ‘Mindset’. Coming in more stripped back and dubby, it’s a darker take and one that immediately grabs a hold of you. The acid build during the break is a classic touch and foreshadows the impactful third act to come.

Since adopting the new Dowden moniker the Canadian artist formerly known as Onez!e has flourished. Releases on John OO Fleming’s JOOF Recordings have been received incredibly well and his recent remix of CJ Peeton’s ‘Ordinary’ (also courtesy of Stellar Fountain) enjoyed a stay in Beatport’s Progressive House tracks chart. Here he does what he does best and that’s inject a dose of peak time energy into ‘Mindset’. The quirky theme translates well over a beefed up groove while intriguing atmospheres generate further dance floor tension. Another big remix from Dowden which might be headed for chart success once again.

The third and final remix is supplied by Greenage who returns to the label for his fourth appearance. The Indian artist has found a great space in the progressive landscape with key releases on Juicebox Music and Balkan Connection. We’ve praised him in the past and he continues to deliver top work with a great interpretation of ‘Mindset’. Although progressive through and through there’s a modern edge to this production, most notably in the top line synth work which comes off very ethereal at points. A sign Greenage is continuing to evolve and push new ideas forward which certainly bodes well for the future. A great remix which rounds out a big package from Stellar Fountain. Highly Recommended.
