John Johnson's ICONYC welcomes Der Effekt to the label with the much anticipated 'Oblivion'. Hailing from Austria, Marcel Fenkart and Marco Glabonjat make up the Der Effekt production team and have amassed an impressive discography since first emerging in 2008. Top tier imprints such as Beat Boutique, Beatfreak, Freegrant, FSOE, Movement Recordings and UV have played host to the duo's dance floor minded creations. Now adding ICONYC to their resume, Der Effekt debuts on the label with a new single alongside remixes from Marat Mode and David Lindmer.

Diversifying their portfolio further, Der Effekt collaborates with Tygr Tygr on 'Oblivion' with great results. Beginning with tough beats, growling electronics and fiery percussion, the duo then introduce a cosmic narrative led by astral arps and striking drum flurries. The centrepiece brings forward the ethereal vocal chops of Tygr Tygr, set nicely against a backdrop of frantic motifs, all while adding a unique emotional slant as the beats drop for a commanding finish.

Also making his label debut is Marat Mode who provides the first interpretation of 'Oblivion'. A rising star in the melodic house & techno world, the Valencia based artist has found a home on Awen Records, One Of A Kind and Somatic Records. Now presenting his first remix of 2021, Marat makes his first appearance on ICONYC with a classy take on 'Oblivion'. The drive and tempo remain high but greater warmth and atmosphere give it a slightly softer more inviting vibe overall. The vocal lands earlier than the original as well, playing out across a first act of nostalgic chord changes and floor burning rhythms, before a grandiose sounding break ultimately seals it's peak time appeal.

Rounding out this trio of ICONYC debutantes is David Lindmer who provides the second and final interpretation. Born in the UK but now based in New York, the Running Clouds label boss has amassed an impressive discography since first emerging in 2019 with key projects coming courtesy of Atlant and Oddity. Now adding home town label ICONYC to his portfolio, David debuts on the label with a powerful rendition of 'Oblivion'. Remarkably fluid and undeniably modern, it’s a mix that stays true to the boisterous themes from the original, while adding a deeper, dubbier, underlying tension through timely effects and rhythmic pulses. Arpeggiated fragments come in waves across the first act, adding a smooth hypnotic sensibility which carries across the main break, before a tasteful build sparks a groovy finale. A classy remix from David rounding out a must have release for John Johnson's ICONYC. Don't miss it.
