Celebrating their 20th release, Inspired By Trees welcomes Hools & Guzy to the label with a new single entitled 'Mtenth'. Born in Argentina but now splitting time between Germany and USA, Hools first emerged just over two years ago with releases c/o DUNKELHEIT, Mirror Walk and Steyoyoke, where his melodic house and techno style quickly found footing. Meanwhile, Berlin based Guzy has enjoyed similar success across his near five-year career, quickly racking up releases via DUNKELHEIT, MONO.NOISE and Radikon. Already a label stalwart having delivered three remixes over the last eighteen months, Guzy now returns to Inspired By Trees alongside occasional studio partner Hools for a new single backed by remixes from Ron Flatter and Yuven.

Following on from collaborations for DUNKELHEIT, Hools & Guzy continue to build on their creative synergy with 'Mtenth'. Following a smooth DJ friendly intro, the duo unleashes pulsating rhythms, reflective overlays and creamy melodic clusters across an emotive first act. Sitting at the heart of the creation is a solemn centrepiece, building on the poignant energy which preceded it with warm swells and a tasteful effects narrative, which smoothly segues into an arp driven drop and spirited finale.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'Mtenth' is Ron Flatter. With a near two-decade long career, the German artist has taken his energetic style of progressive techno to long standing imprints such as Stil Vor Talent and Traum, while also being a well-travelled DJ. Now adding Inspired By Trees to his resume, Ron debuts on the Swiss imprint with a stylish remix of 'Mtenth'. Electrically charged with perfectly manicured beats and machine gun rhythms, its cosmic appeal beams brightly from the outset. Combining nostalgic acid lines with crisp percussion and striking design makes for a sleek yet moderately wonky first act. Playful plucks and timely modulation heighten the senses during a well-crafted break, eventually bringing an emotive slant through colourful synth phrasing, on wards to a stripped back second act and suitable charged final movement.

The release concludes with Yuven also making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Mtenth'. The German artist first came to our attention in 2018 with a pair of excellent collaborations alongside fellow countryman Jonas Saalbach. Eventually finding a comfortable home on Jonas' Radikon imprint in 2019, Yuven has gone on to deliver seven originals and two remixes for the German imprint, while also landing on Einmusika and Infinite Depth along the way. Continuing a strong 2021, Yuven now makes his Inspired By Trees debut with a hugely satisfying rendition of 'Mtenth'. Setting the piece in motion is a bed of tough beats and thunderous bass tones, which ultimately lay the framework for a deeply rewarding journey. There's a deeper, headier quality to this version which resonates almost immediately through its murky, meditative drawl and timely percussive flurries. The acid line sits gently below the surface, reprocessed to mind bending effect and acting as a textural guide to a glowing break, which perhaps sits as the release's most memorable and satisfying moment. An amazing interpretation from Yuven which rounds out another contemporary, dance floor minded release from Inspired By Trees, a label who continues to impress as 2021 winds to a close. Highly recommended.
