Biskuwi – Norse [Soundteller Records]

Deersky’s Soundteller Records continues to unearth new talent by welcoming Biskuwi to the label this week. Hailing from Sweden, Yalcin Efe aka Biskuwi has past appearances on Making You Dance Records and PHW Elements. Now for his first release of 2018 he steps up to Soundteller with his much anticipated debut EP entitled ‘Norse’.

Yalcin’s musical history is diverse, having played in several bands before transitioning into electronic music eight years ago. With more of a unique style of storytelling this diverse history is evidenced in the lead track ‘Norse’. Moments of emotion, highlighted in the main break as well as smooth, mediatative bridges shine here. There’s a very real sense of atmosphere and it’s subtle yet constantly evolving narrative makes for an eventful yet delicate seven minute journey.

The companion piece ‘Transient States’ slows the tempo down to 112 and is aptly titled with a bevy of serene moments. A well contoured groove and creamy motifs stand out instantly but the intertwined lead themes are perhaps what shines the most. Dulcet and deliciously laid back they bring a lazy yet charming vibe to the piece making an ideal track to close out the EP. Two special tracks that put Biskuwi firmly in the progressive landscape and another great addition to the Soundteller roster. Highly Recommended.
