Nikola Mihailovic – Sense of Dream [Balkan Connection]

The latest from Balkan Connection presents the debut release of a new name on the scene Nikola Mihailovic. The Serbian artist grew up listening to electro, hip-hop and rock but in 2014 found his true passion in electronic music and began DJing. His sets represent a cross section of genres from house to techno to progressive. Now after some time honing his studio skills he presents his debut EP on Balkan Connection.

Beginning with the title track 'Sense Of Dream' you get a distinct sense of Nikola's broad interests in electronic music. Elements of progressive and techno fuse together effortlessly for a unique storyboard of emotions across the near ten minute play time. The contrast of a dark, rippling underbelly with hypnotic arps and airy symphonic elements is quite magical, particularly after a dramatic break which is going to work perfectly on the dance floor.

The companion piece 'Canorous' is equally compelling with a cavernous groove and murky atmospheres creating a real sense of anticipation. It's a touch more rugged than 'Sense Of Dream' and also more concise in a way. The focus remains on strong hypnotic elements and subtle emotive motifs which ultimately shine brightest during the main break. A superb debut EP for Nikola and a great addition to the amazing Balkan Connection roster.
