Deersky's Soundteller Records opens the month of March by welcoming 2UP back to the label for a new single. Based in Mexico, Ulíses Pascua aka 2UP first appeared on Soundteller last year with the 'Introspective' EP. Produced in conjunction with Sergio Avila, the two track showcase proved to be a standout release for 2UP, with both tracks sitting near the top of his Beatport best sellers. Now returning to the Polish imprint in solo capacity, 2UP presents his latest studio creation 'Devotion', alongside remixes from D-Nox and Ewan Rill.

The original mix leads the release off and showcases 2UP's unique blend of styles. From a driving progressive framework comes house inspired vocal elements and bubbly arps. Neatly manicured percussion does wonders to add swing and bounce to the groove, while smooth chord changes provide a lovely emotional response leading into the break. The vocal narrative expands across the interlude, conjuring up memories of decades past classics, before eventually giving way to a thunderous build and gorgeous finale.

The first interpretation of ‘Devotion’ is provided by D-Nox who returns to to the label for his second appearance. Hailing from Germany but now based in Argentina, D-Nox has continued to thrill fans with both cutting edge music and enlightening DJ sets. Whether operating in solo capacity or as one half of D-Nox and Beckers, the German artist lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases on Bedrock Records and Sudbeat Music. Having made his Soundteller debut with a remix of Lemon8 in 2019, D-Nox returns with an equally satisfying rendition of 'Devotion'. Known for his sleek, driving style, D-Nox opts for a slightly dubbier approach here, using the vocals during the break only for the most part, while focusing more on groove dynamics and a fiery array of percussive arrangements, both of which are incredibly strong.

Rounding out the release with the second and final remix is Ewan Rill. The Russian artist and Sever Records boss has been a mainstay of the progressive house underground since first appearing in 2011 with a release on Balkan Connection. Now a decade later he stands as one of the genre’s most prolific artists, with a discography of more than 1250 credits and appearances on esteemed imprints such as Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. No stranger to Soundteller, Ewan last appeared on the Polish imprint last year with the 'Option Exist' EP. Now finding his way back following releases for Deepwibe Underground and PHW Elements, Ewan dials in an impressive interpretation of 'Devotion'. Never one to stick to a formula or craft obvious remixes, Ewan moves further away from the sensibility of the original with quirkier rhythmic elements and a lighter take on the vocals. Also less poignant across the first act, it's the main break which really hits home with a much deeper sense of emotion, one which carries across into a finale of glassy arps and heartfelt chord changes. Gorgeous stuff from Ewan which caps off a very well put together release for Soundteller Records, one where 2UP, D-Nox and Ewan make the most of their label return. Highly recommended.
