Closing out the month of September, John Johnson's ICONYC welcomes Yerom to the label for a new single. Belgian artist Yerom has enjoyed a steady rise since first emerging in 2017 with a release via Bullfinch. The next half decade would see the Ghent resident go on to record projects for Beatfreak, Dear Deer, Deep Stories and Mirror Walk. ICONYC's Noir division would also serve as a home for Yerom, with the 'Different Spaces' EP landing in March of 2020. Now stepping up to ICONYC's main imprint, Yerom debuts on the label with 'Hold Me Down', alongside remixes from James Harcourt and Four Candles.

On 'Hold Me Down', Yerom has enlisted the vocal talents of ICONYC regular Aves Volare. Together the German duo craft a sublime slice of progressive house. Led by a strong vocal and nostalgic musicality this six minute jaunt aims for a peak time dance floor and delivers. Highlighted by a memorable and unabashedly epic break, this is one to send people home with a smile.

Label debutant James Harcourt provides the first remix, taking the track into indie-inspired territory. Metallic arps and crystalline vocals are the order of the day here, nicely backed by a chunky electric groove and layers of firing percussion. James delivers a nice does of tension across the break, looping the vocal against percolating arps and dramatic overlays, ultimately resulting in a thunderous drop and twisted finale.

The release concludes with Four Candles making his label debut following a pair of outings via ICONYC's Noir division. Also laying claim to releases on Bedrock and his own Keep Thinking imprint, Four Candles goes deeper than the previous versions adding some nice depth to the release. The vocal translates really well over Four Candles' pulsating grooves and shapeshifting atmospherics, while splashes of acid provide some lovely character and texture along the way. Meanwhile, on the Four Candles Acid Redub version the same infectious groove provides the backbone for a narrative of dubbed out vocals and a slightly more aggressive complement of acid, particularly across the main break which sits as the track's sensory saturating highlight. Very much in the vein of something Sasha or John would play, it rounds out the release in fine fashion and makes electronic music connoisseurs spoilt for choice here. Highly recommended.
