Yashar – Petition [Specific Music]

Yegor Tsarkov's Specific Music returns for their first release of 2019 by welcoming Yashar back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Tehran, the Iranian artist made his debut on the Russian imprint in June of last year with his 'Moon Shard' EP. Well received, the lead track on the release was featured in Beatport's best new progressive house tracks for the week and enjoyed an extended stay in their charts as well. Now returning for a follow-up, Yashar presents his new single 'Petition' alongside remixes from Tuco, Shayan Pasha and Fabri Lopez.

Beginning with the original mix Yashar draws from his cross cultural style with a groovy, percussive creation aimed squarely at the dance floor. Waves of undulating bass power the foundation while rugged rhythms and ethereal motifs fill in the framework. A strong effects narrative builds further momentum, before a strong tonal theme brings additional intrigue and ultimately initiates the break. Uniquely mystical, the storyboard evolves as rousing synths converge for spiritual moments, perfectly setting up a rousing finale.

The three remixes all offer a unique perspective beginning with Tuco who strips the production down for more of a tech house inspired take. Quirky and groovy in all the right ways its esoteric design and shuffling percussion make for an intriguing listen. A heady band of modulation highlights the first act before an even more obscure break takes you further down the rabbit hole. Up next Shayan Pasha stays a bit closer to the original with a progressive inspired take. Although darker and druggier sounding, the main themes do translate in a subversive manner but it's ultimately the brooding nature of the piece which wins you over, an apocalyptic break doesn't hurt either which is sure to capture the imagination of your dance floor. Rounding out the release is Fabri Lopez who could most certainly be one of 2019's fastest rising Argentinean artists. With a sound that sits in the pure progressive spectrum, his productions are both groovy and emotive, two traits which he's managed to inject into his 'Petition' remix. Smooth and effortless sounding, the groove is a thing of buoyant beauty while the subtle melodic work is serene and inviting. The main break represents the release's most emotive moment and although relatively brief it's tranquillity is welcome before a tasteful drop resets the storyboard for an epic finale. A gorgeous remix from Fabri and our favourite on the release as well. It caps off another well rounded offering from Yegor Tsarkov's Specific Music who get 2019 off to a great start.
