Stellar Fountain welcomes fast rising Juan Sapia to the label with ‘Where I Belong / Skyward’. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist has been hotly tipped of late. An excellent contribution to Soundteller’s ‘Vibrant Vibeland’ series coupled with a superb remix for Electronic Tree has made for an excellent start to the new year. Also laying claim to a release on Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records, Juan now lands on Stellar Fountain with a new EP alongside remixes from Vitaly Shturm and Erich Von Kollar.

The pure progressive vibes are strong in the first cut ‘Where I Belong’. Coming from a positive place it’s warm mounds of bass, haunting atmospherics and a gentle arp highlight the first act, before stripping down into the main break. Tranquil vibes abound, it’s a melancholic centrepiece with wistful motifs complementing the arp for an all round nostalgic mood. The companion piece ‘Skyward’ follows suit with a similar sonic profile. Once again it’s a bed of warm, rolling bass which sits at the foundation while serene arps, frayed percussion and wispy effects carry the storyboard into a magical break. Played out over two minutes, the centrepiece is a transcendent blend of emotive wails and electronic clusters, playing off each other remarkably well and onwards to a blissful finale. Two stunning creations from Juan who is certainly an artist to keep a close eye on this year.

The lone interpretation of ‘Where I Belong’ finds Vitaly Shturm returning to the label for his second appearance. The Russian artist closed out 2018 with impressive releases on Bonzai Records and Massive Harmony Records. Vitaly now begins the year with an enchanting rework of ‘Where I Belong’. A fuller, warmer groove and tasteful take on the melodic elements have made for a great compliment to the original, while a spaced out yet dramatic break steals the show.

The release is capped off with Erich Von Kollar providing the lone interpretation of ‘Skyward’. The Hungarian artist and Stellar Fountain boss also had an impressive 2018, highlighted by a remix of Roger Martinez (courtesy ICONYC) as well as key releases on Proton's Particles, One Of A Kind and Soundteller Records. Now following a remix for Massive Harmony Records to begin the year, Erich provides a unique take on ‘Skyward’ to close out the release. The main themes translate very well, delivering a similarly smooth and emotive journey. The stripped back section following the break proves to be a highlight with childhood motifs and a tranquil, almost floating vibe which carries all throughout a meditative third act. One that would certainly work well on an endless loop and with a reflective quality to end the EP on a high note. All is all it makes for a great debut for Juan Sapia on the label and likely not the last time we will see him on the fine Hungarian imprint.
