Various Artists – Vibrant Vibeland #20 [Soundteller Records]

As we approach the holiday season, Deersky's Soundteller Records unveils the twentieth edition of their 'Vibrant Vibeland' series. The long running compilation series has become a schedule highlight for the Polish imprint, one where rising stars and nostalgic names converge for a cohesive release that often splits time between progressive organic and melodic house. With two editions already in the books for 2022, Soundteller now welcomes Ananta (CL), Nerutto, Bautista Gaya, Peres, Cristian Hidalgo, Matt Oliver, Gero Pellizzon, Franco Mohr, Daniel Jula, SIQUEIRA, FiddeLozza, Matias Acuña and RVNDU to be a part of the much anticipated twentieth edition.

With just one release to his credit Ananta (CL) provides the collection's first selection 'Ace of Cups'. Coming in with a distinctive lean towards melodic house and techno, its smooth lines and emotive chord changes prelude the excellent 'Dreamlike' from Nerutto. The Lithuanian artist delivers a nostalgic progressive house cut with big, well carved grooves and a timeless poignant quality. Selection three finds Bautista Gaya returning to the label with 'Clouds Chasing Me'. The Buenos Aires resident follows projects for Another Life and Future Avenue with a poignant piece that relies on glistening electronics and smooth effortless grooves to translate its message to the dance floor. Meanwhile, label regular Peres returns following the November release of his 'Nocny' single with 'Bodo'. The deeper emotive qualities of the previous selections are well maintained here as the Polish artist crafts a timeless arp driven piece to send people home with a smile. Argentinean artist and label debutant Cristian Hidalgo is next with 'Disguise', a seven minute piece ideally suited to the morning hours with its emotive vocals, glowing melodies and warm grooves. Selection six is provided by Matt Oliver who makes his label debut with 'Libertas'. The Brazilian artist brings his melodic house and techno sound through big muscular beats, clattering percussive arrangements and an astral array of arps. Energy continues to rise with 'Black Lips' from Gero Pellizzon who makes his label debut. The Cordoba resident delivers a classically styled progressive cut with an arp that might remind some of 'Love on a Real Train' by Tangerine Dream which is never a bad thing.

The release's halfway point is marked with the return of Franco Mohr to the label with 'The New Normal'. The Buenos Aires resident delivers a tough driving track designed for the heart of peak time with its electric arps and effects laden finale. Daniel Jula is up next, fresh off a remix for Colombia's excellent Onestar Records. The Bogota resident provides one of the collection's deeper tracks 'Sueño De Niño' which carries a wealth of nostalgic qualities that are nicely suited to a daytime dancefloor. SIQUEIRA's 'Heart Slips' also makes its mark with a classic progressive groove and creamy keys getting blanketed by warm atmospheric phrasing and clustered motifs. American artist FiddeLozza returns with 'Between You and Me' following a contribution to the label's Resonarium #001 collection from March of this year. The Austin, Texas resident delivers the most emotive production of his career with hopeful vocal fragments and wavy arps paving the way for goosebump worthy chord changes. The release's second last cut is provided by Matias Acuña who makes his label debut with 'Sansa' following releases for Balkan Connection South America and Droid9. Its laid back vibes and mysterious qualities prove to be the perfect segue to the  collection's final track 'Chasing A Mirage' by RVNDU. With just one previous release courtesy of Future Avenue, the Sri Lankan artist puts a cap on the LP with an old school progressive roller which leaves you with an emotional feeling much like the compilation as whole. Highly recommended.
