MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music opens the month of August by presenting the sixteenth edition of their SIX:Stage-X compilation series. At just over four years into its existence, the beloved various artists showcase continues to search the globe for the freshest new talent that the electronic underground has to offer, oftentimes featuring a cohesive blend of progressive and melodic techno styles. SIX: Stage-16 follows suit and lands in impressive fashion with exclusive music from (in order of appearance) Rockka, Neuralis, NAASA, Redspace, Franco Romano and Maraudon. Leading the release off is Rockka who returns to the label following his remix of 'EsQadar' by Dr Green and Moodfreak. The Sri Lankan's latest is entitled 'Black Sands' and sets a strong tone for the release with a groovy style and dark yet electrifying storyboard. Selection two finds Neuralis making his label debut with the chugging grooves of 'Arritmia'. The Spanish artist crafts a chunky, rhythmic journey which flows through peaks and valleys to translate a goosebump-inducing narrative to the dance floor. Label debutantes NAASA arrive to SLC-6 Music in grand fashion with 'Perfect Time', a track which finds the duo showcasing their heartfelt melodies and poignant designs to great effect. Marking the collection's halfway point is Redspace who also makes an impressive first solo effort for SLC-6 with '1994'. Well-established with releases via Droid9 and Univack, the fast rising artist delivers a modern day progressive chugger, highlighted by ghostly tones and an earnest piano line which perfectly sets up a dark drop. Fresh off releases for Beat Boutique and MNL, Franco Romano delivers selection five 'Parallel Universe'. The Argentine's stompy beats and key changing bass stabs provide a sturdy dancefloor framework, while a tantalizing melodic lead adds depth and colour throughout. The release concludes with newcomer Maraudon presenting his first official production 'Orea'. As a strong debut it rounds out the release with a perfect blend of techno inspired beats, trippy effects and a tension filled break to set up a heads down finale.
