Hailing from Greece and Serbia respectively, both Chaum and Hobin have been key figures in the world of progressive house for several years. Currently calling London home, Chaum's clever coax of styles has found it's way onto long running imprints such as Mango Alley and Movement Recordings. Similarly, Hobin Rude has emerged as a top talent in the genre's competitive landscape with a resume that boasts releases via Plattenbank and The Soundgarden. With duo's first ever collaboration coming courtesy of Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music earlier this year, Chaum and Hobin combine their extensive forces once again for Juicebox Music with a two-track showcase entitled 'Cressida / Mesec'. Further diversifying their portfolio, Chaum and Hobin craft a dark progressive groover that both new and old fans of the genre will appreciate. For those that have a fondness for the early days of John Digweed's Bedrock Records and Satoshi Tomie's SAW imprint, this is definitely a production for you. Based purely around rhythm and groove, it's a dark amalgamation of orbiting effects, gaseous atmospheres and tough stompy beats that ultimately make this a simple but hugely effective dancefloor destroyer. Companion piece 'Mesec' follows in equally impressive fashion with a dark electric appeal which complements it's predecessor quite nicely. Haunting voices, razor-sharp design and otherworldly atmospheres make for a devilish aural experience, while the duo's tenacious kick drums and relentless rhythmic attack should make for a stellar mid-set response. With one well-received collaboration already in the books, Chaum and Hobin Rude add two more standout pieces to their joint discography, and in turn make a sensational Juicebox Music debut.
