Releases Various Artists – Chapter One [-102C] By Release Promo Posted on 11th September 2021 6 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release from -102C finds the label showcasing the first installment of it's Various Artists EP compilation series. Set to be a recurring release and carefully curated by label bosses Monograph and The Cobb, the 'Chapters' series will showcase a colorful blend of deep, organic and progressive house. Getting the series off to a promising start are (in order of appearance) Monojoke, Alex Konstantinov and The Cobb. Getting the release underway and making his label debut is Monojoke. From progressive beginnings the Polish artist has successfully found a place in the organic house scene over the last year. Releases on 3rd Avenue, Nature Rec., RYNTH and more have all been a home for his revitalized sound. Now continuing that journey he debuts on -102C with 'Tristesse'. Smooth and evocative, it's a creation which showcases some amazing organic qualities, from the dusty percussion, exotic drums and warm key changing groove there is a lot to like. A building melodic storyboard is perhaps most enticing, as breezy melodies act as a colourlful canopy across the eight minute journey and deliver some goosebump worthy moments during the break. Deepwibe Underground stalwart Alex Konstantinov is up next with 'Melodia Relajante'. A robust low end immediately stands out on this one, well contoured and shape-shifting through a band of chord changes which ultimately set a poignant tone from the outset. Spirited melodic elements get teased across the first act, bright and beautiful eventually unveiling a jangly lead which very much exemplifies organic electronic at the moment. A perfect example of where a musical top line works it's magic and a sturdy, simple framework translates that message to the dancefloor. Label manager The Cobb has risen dramatically across the first year of this production career. Almost exactly one year ago the Russian artist released a collaboration with Deepwibe Underground director Monograph entitled 'Apogee', a production which set in a motion a string of impressive releases to come, both organic and progressive in ethos. Now with a neat and tidy discography The Cobb has found himself as a fresh name in the organic house scene and with forthcoming remixes from Dmitry Molosh, GMJ and Kamilo Sanclemente the future looks bright to say the least. Here he contributes another exceptional production entitled 'Auethnic' which caps off the release in fine style. Nice to hear a tempo shift as the energy and mood come down from the previous two selections, allowing all those organic qualities to breathe even more. The groove is somewhat dubby feeling, making it an ideal late night or early morning selection, and a spectacular arrangement of bell-like clusters drifts gently below the surface as wispy vocal elements add further intrigue. Sensational music from The Cobb which caps off a great start to a new series from -102C. Highly recommended.
