Traumhouse – Under My Skin [Magician On Duty]

German duo Traumhouse debut on Magician On Duty with new single 'Under My Skin'. Made up of couple Sebastian and Silvana, the Seelze residents first appeared on the electronic music scene in 2017 with releases on A Must Have and Cirque Du Son. Quickly calling the former their home the German duo have since went on to appear on the label eleven times. Also owning releases on Manual Music and The Purr, Traumhouse now land on Magician On Duty alongside remixes from LADS, Santo Adriano and Mauerhuhn.

Although known for their deep, dreamy releases MOD has signed a moodier piece here and a brilliant one at that. Traumhouse craft a tough, vocal led piece that has darker almost paranoid sensibilities. A bevy of intriguing designs complement the full vocal perfectly while well placed fragments eventually lead to an even more twisted finale.

The remixes are supplied by three of the underground's best up and coming talents, beginning with LADS. The German / South African duo follow releases on Dream Culture, Nie Wieder Schlafen and Mango Alley with an impressive take on 'Under My Skin'. The mood and vibe from the original is well conveyed here, albeit in a slighter more hypnotic context and with a gorgeous arp in the break you get a healthy dose of astral aesthetics.

Also making his label debut is Santo Adriano who is best known for his work on Balkan Connection and Soundteller Records. The Buenos Aires based artist takes a slightly lighter approach on 'Under My Skin' with a bright tonal theme and hazy harmonic concepts. The vocals get used sparingly, allowing the catchy lead theme to work it's rhythmic magic, while a well crafted break incorporates that cricket sample amazingly well. An intricate and detailed mix from Santo.

Rounding out the release is Mauerhuhn who completes this quartet of Magician On Duty debuts. The German artist has also found a home on A Must Have, Mallam and PHW Elements. Capping the release off in style he takes 'Under My Skin' into groovy, percussive territory. The atmospheric presence is immediately evident with big swollen overlays and sheets of noise sweeping across the framework at timely moments. A stellar chain of effects then fully saturates your senses as vocal fragments add further depth and intrigue. A stunning remix from Mauerhuhn and yet another unique and inspired release from Magician On Duty, who explore a slightly different sonic palette here with great results. Highly recommended.
