St. Savor – Walking [Soundteller Records]

Russian duo St. Savor make their debut on Deersky’s Soundteller Records this week with ‘Walking’. Ildar Valiakhmetov and Maxim Ryzhkov make up the St. Savor production team and have had past successes with releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music. Now making their much anticipated Soundteller debut St. Savor present their two latest studio creations ‘Shadow Demon’ and ‘Dream In Reality’.

The EP begins with ‘Shadow Demon’ which is a melodic yet quirky, deep progressive crossover style piece. The framework of the track is quite interesting, full of layered beats and unique rhythmic designs it definitely sits a bit outside the traditional progressive house realm. From a musical standpoint it’s quite lovely, bold and grandiose at times but without losing its classy, modern flair. A stand out production from St. Savor.

The release concludes with ‘Dream In Reality’ which is a touch deeper and more traditionally progressive. It’s full, pumping groove makes the 119 bpm tempo seem much quicker than it is and once again there is a tastefully epic complement of melodies which work their way into the mix. The nine minute plus running time is split up with a cinematic break which tastefully builds drama as a wave of noise brings the warm groove back for an exhilarating conclusion. I hadn’t heard much from St. Savor since their Sudbeat release so it’s nice to see them back where they belong, in the progressive house spotlight. A great signing for Deersky’s Soundteller Records once again. Don’t miss it.
