SparroX – Energize [Polyptych Underground]

Polyptych Underground continues a strong start by welcoming SparroX to the label for their fourth release. Hailing from Israel, Shlomi Rossi aka SparroX has enjoyed a steady rise since first appearing in 2016 with a release via Mind Manifest Records. Carefully straddling the line between melodic house and techno and progressive house, the next six years saw the Eilat resident build an impressive discography, with notable projects coming courtesy of Capital Heaven, Freegrant Music, Flemcy Music and Kitchen Recordings. Now adding Polyptych Underground to his resume, SparroX debuts on the label with a two track showcase entitled 'Energize'.

Known for his peak time sounds, it is the commanding beats of the title selection which lead the release off. It's evident from the tracks early moments that the production is exceptional. Full, warm and packed with great character, the muscular groove provides the backbone for a series of cosmic effects, thoughtful vocal samples and delicate arps to work their magic. A striking stab emerges across the first act, adding further drama leading into the break where things take a more emotive turn. Cascading motifs sit against a glowing, key changing backdrop as the centrepiece evolves, before eventually giving way to a thunderous drop and hook heavy lead which delivers an exhilarating finale.

The companion piece 'Take Me Back' comes in a touch deeper and more hypnotic but with the same striking production of it's predecessor. A familiar 'take me back to the underground' sample sits nicely atop a romping groove, sizzling acid lines and quirky effects. Looking to add further emotion to the storyboard, SparroX expertly weaves melodic fragments through a forest of effervescent acid lines and driving percussion, before a wave of drums and arps unite for a melodic crescendo coming out of a tension filled break. Unique and powerful in equal measure, it rounds out an excellent Polyptych Underground debut for SparroX, an artist who continues to rise as 2021 nears it's final quarter. Highly recommended.
