Sonderzug – Shout In Space [ICONYC]

The latest from John Johnson's ICONYC imprint finds one of the label's longest running artists in Sonderzug returning for a brand new single. The Austrian producer and Soulkraft label boss is making his ninth appearance on the US imprint but it comes after a near one year hiatus. Is was November 14th in fact when Sonderzug's remix of 'Ten Times' by Paul Hazendonk and Noraj Cue was unveiled and also selected by Beatport as a Must Hear track for the week. Now making a welcome return to ICONYC Sonderzug presents his latest single entitled 'Shout In Space' alongside remixes from Silinder and Zed White.

Fresh off the release of his Beatport Top 5 album 'Endless' Sonderzug is riding a wave of promotional hype. His latest 'Shout In Space' seems to fall at precisely the right moment and hits the nail on the head yet again. Known for his pure progressive house sound the Austrian artist presents a groovy, atmospheric beauty here. Esoteric in design, it boasts a variety of strong motifs from its funky low end, quirky rhythmic structures and a melancholic top line to die for. Stellar stuff from Sonderzug.

First up on the remixes is long time scene veteran Silinder who always brings a unique approach to each project. The Irish artist goes deeper and dubbier resulting in a great complement to the original. Sitting in a different sonic space, the main elements get chopped and reprocessed quite a lot. The melancholic tone isn't lost however and the effects storyboard combined with a jouney-esque vibe is perhaps it's strongest suit. Lovely interpretation from Silinder.

The release concludes with Zed White making his label debut following releases on Perfecto and Bonzai Records. The UK artist sticks much closer to the original and uses the main themes to great effect all while encasing them in a more cosmic wrap. It's deep, spaced out quality makes it an excellent alternative to the original and closes the release out quite strong. A triumphant return to ICONYC for Sonderzug who essentially established himself during the labels early 238W years. Highly Recommended.
