Releases SEQU3L – Dark Waters Remixes [Qilla Records] By Release Promo Posted on 22nd September 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release from Qilla Records finds the label showcasing new interpretations of SEQU3L’s ‘Dark Waters’. Originally released in December of last year it showcased the Indian artist at his best with a cross pollinated creation drawing from progressive house and techno influences. Currently sitting as the label’s best selling track on Beatport the memorable creation now gets remade for 2018 by Dimuth K and Shannon Davin. One of this years hottest progressive house artists has undoubtedly been Dimuth K. The Sri Lankan producer has found a home on Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Tash’s Movement Recordings, while seeing his tracks earn live play from Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J. Now making his much anticipated Qilla Records debut, Dimuth takes ‘Dark Waters’ into pure progressive territory. The crunchy, aggressive nature of the original has been smoothed out with warm grooves, melodic clusters and a captivating atmospheric storyboard. Dimuth’s productions are always very vibey and this has that feeling again, it’s energetic and intense at moments yet peaceful and melodious at others. A true progressive creation in every sense of the term and the drop out of the break is definitely going to serve your dance floor very well. A spot on remix from one of the genre’s future stars. The second and final interpretation of ‘Dark Waters’ is provided by Shannon Davin who is another artist rising out of Sri Lanka’s electronic underground. Releases on Particles, Massive Harmony Records and PHW Elements highlight his discography while support from Hernan Cattaneo is fast becoming a regular occurrence. Always a creative remixer, Shannon bridges the gap between the techno minded original and his own progressive house roots. A tough, commanding groove takes straight aim at the dance floor while dark electronics and a hazy harmonic resonance add both melody and drama. It’s a narrative which continues to evolve during a tension filled break, as tranquil arps and piercing stabs converge for the ultimate sonic contrast. A superb remix from Shannon who along with Dimuth and a host of other talented artists like Subandrio and Nishan Lee, make Sri Lanka one of the world’s most promising progressive house hotbeds. It caps off a hugely successful remix edition for Qilla records who remain on top form here. Highly Recommended.
