Releases EdOne – Alhambra EP [Beatfreak Recordings] By Release Promo Posted on 21st September 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin EdOne debuts on Beatfreak Recordings this week with ‘Alhambra’ alongside remixes from Thomas Gandey and Dizharmonia. It’s been a phenomenal year for the Spanish artist having notched releases on Stil Vor Talent, Suara and MOOD while receiving live play from Dixon and Solomun. Now following a release on the surging Lauter Unfug imprint, EdOne makes his much anticipated Beatfreak debut with 'Alhambra'. Beginning with the title and showcase piece ‘Alhambra’ EdOne collaborates with Pakk for a slice of melodic house heaven. Warm dulcet beats, percussive flurries and a sombre atmospheric overlay begin the journey. Senses heighten as tantalizing arps and emotive swells converge in the ultimate sonic marriage. The beat layering and shuffled cadence is what makes this such a unique piece though, effortlessly advancing the narrative into an emotive second act. For as grandiose as it comes off the unique foundation keeps it incredibly fresh and modern, making for a concise and enjoyable seven minute journey. The companion piece ‘Ghost Rebellion’ finds EdOne going solo and with equally excellent results. From stripped, moody beginnings comes cascading themes and organic drums. Esoteric in nature, it’s bulbous bass tones along with broken percussion and striking shades and tones make for an incredibly heady journey. Fresh and intelligent it will no doubt be a delight for the clued up dance floors and true electronic music aficionados. The lone interpretation of ‘Alhambra’ is provided by Thomas Gandey who is also making his Beatfreak debut. The UK born, France based artist has become a pillar of the electronic underground with releases on Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Noir, Suara and a host of other respected imprints. 2018 has once again been filled with Beatport chart success for Thomas and his ‘Alhambra’ interpretation looks set for a similar fate. Making the most of the original’s unique rhythmic storyboard, the UK artist toughens the framework up while keeping those important emotive qualities nicely in the mix. It’s room expanding groove becomes all encompassing, as sections of noise add tension and drama, before eventually melting down into the final break, which should be a highly memorable peak time moment. The release concludes with Dizharmonia rounding out this trio of Beatfreak debutants. The Greek duo are renowned for their cosmic take on techno and in turn have found a home on Stil Vor Talent and Steyoyoke. Now following releases on DUNKELHEIT and Souq Records, Dizharmonia make their Beatfreak debut in style with a stellar interpretation of ‘Ghost Rebellion’. Warped and twisted in all the right ways, it’s a journey into the depths of esoteric design and meditative rhythms. Perfectly primed for dance floor destruction it rounds out another excellent offering from Beatfreak Recordings that’s not to be missed. Highly Recommended.
