Ruh (SE) – Breeze [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain caps off a resurgent year by welcoming Ruh to the label for his debut single. The Swedish artist first came to our attention earlier this year with his 'Today Was the First Day' EP for Jelly For The Babies RYNTH imprint. The Stockholm resident's organic sound was quickly recognized, leading to further projects via 3rd Avenue and Ready Mix Records. Now adding Stellar Fountain to his rapidly growing portfolio, Ruh debuts on the label with 'Breeze', alongside remixes from Mass Digital and Ilya Gerus.

Clocking in at a sultry pace is the original mix with it's laid back, spacious groove and meandering musical qualities. A framework of dusty percussion and mountainous bass tones proves to be the perfect vehicle for a variety of misty Mediterranean sounding motifs and some nicely placed vocal elements, all of which unite across an intoxicating break and late night finale.

Making his label debut and providing the fist interpretation of 'Breeze' is Mass Digital. Highly regarded in the world of organic house, the Russian artist boasts an impressive discography highlighted by releases via All Day I Dream, Hoomidaas, Sol Selectas and TRYBESof. Now bringing his enchanting sounds to Stellar Fountain, the Serbian artist re-imagines 'Breeze' in fine style. Bringing the piece closer to the dance floor, Mass Digital ups the tempo and utilizes the vocal amidst a myriad of exotic drum elements and rolling grooves. What stands out most perhaps is the lead theme, nicely remodeled for a wonkier, more swing heavy sound, it's transcendent musicality not only highlights a breezy break but makes for a satisfying finish.

The release concludes with Ilya Gerus returning to the label for the second and final interpretation of 'Breeze'. The Russian artist has been a regular in the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade, having racked up almost five hundred discography credits since first appearing in 2013. Having delivered an excellent remix of Spacebeat's 'Fire Walk With Me' earlier this year, Ilya returns with an equally satisfying take on 'Breeze'. Sitting somewhere in between it's two predecessors tempo wise, Ilya plays with the lead motif for a more hypnotic, free flowing style that works amazingly well with his atmospheric phrasing and thus makes for a great late night option. A gorgeous rendition from Ilya which caps off an excellent year for Stellar Fountain, one which found label reinvent itself in the organic space, while still holding on to their progressive roots.
