Based in Todos Santos, the Mexican artist first appeared on the Polish imprint with a contribution to the label's Vibrant Vibeland #17 collection which was released earlier this month. Since first emerging in 2019 the majority of Fede's work has been released through Whole Story Lab where he has appeared 22 times, but now as 2021 winds to a close he delivers his first original project for Soundteller entitled 'Musing'. Clocking in at under six minutes, it's the groovy sounds of the title selection which lead the release off. Superbly produced with a lot of pop and a great sense of space, Fede works choir-like overlays and a catchy arp over a warm, mountainous underbelly as layers of percussion add bounce and drive to the narrative. The break furthers it's melodic appeal with a colourful blend of fragmented hooks and balmy atmospheres, perfectly setting the stage for a soaring finale. The release concludes with 'Sentinel' which sits as an equally impressive companion. Complementing its warm, rolling groove are punchy beats, luminous tones and flurries of exotic drums. Vibrant synth phrasing, dynamic chord stabs and quirky effects marry across a groovy first act, before opening up into an effects-laden break and spirited final movement. It rounds out two creative and well produced tracks from Fede which are arguably the best of his career, and what better place to showcase them than a long standing imprint like Soundteller.
