Ruh (SE) – Across The River [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain rounds out the month of August by welcoming Ruh (SE) back to the label for a new EP. The Swedish artist made his debut on the Hungarian imprint late last year with 'Breeze'. Backed by remixes from Mass Digital and Ilya Gerus, it was the Mass Digital remix which shot to the top of Ruh's Beatport Best Sellers, where it still sits today. Now, following projects for 3rd Avenue and Ready Mix Records, Ruh returns to Stellar Fountain with 'Across The River', alongside remixes from Mule (ARG) and Ignacio Corazza & Diego R.

The title selection fits nicely into the label's organic leanings of late with a stunning array of exotic drums and blissful qualities. A chunky groove provides the foundation for a variety of fresh sounding motifs, most notably a fragmented vocal and soulful instrumentation, the latter of which shines during a glowing break and whimsical finale. Meanwhile, 'The Promised Land' comes in equally impressive with more excellent drum detail and even greater emotional qualities. Shimmering pads, iridescent effects and a fuzzed out plucky lead make for a hugely memorable break, which ultimately sits as one of the release's defining moments.

Called upon to remix the title track are Mule (ARG) and Ignacio Corazza & Diego R. The former, fresh off excellent releases for Cigarette Music and Souksonic makes his label debut with an afro-tinged interpretation that complements the original nicely. The textural qualities of the mix are outstanding but not so much to over shadow it's swing heavy groove and remarkable drum work. A stunning interpretation from Mule [ARG). Ignacio Corazza & Diego R round out the release with more of a progressive minded remix which not only adds depth to the EP but also links nicely to the label's roots. The duo reworks the groove into something more full and fluid, while a greater emphasis lands on hypnotic rhythms and tasteful effects which makes this a perfect mid-set selection. A gorgeous interpretation from Ignacio Corazza & Diego R, which caps off another excellent release for Stellar Fountain, a label who moves into the summer season full stream ahead. Highly recommended.
