Balkan Connection follows up one of it's biggest releases of the year with an equally impressive EP from rAin. Lying at the heart of the Mauritis underground, the Port-Louis resident has shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Patrice Baumel and Eelke Kleijn, while showcasing his music on 3rd Avenue, Genesis Music, Juicebox Music and Soundteller Records. Now making his much anticipated Balkan Connection debut, rAin presents his 'Nature' EP alongside remixes from Dimuth K and GMJ.

Beginning with the title selection rAin explores the deeper spectrum of progressive music. On a bed of warm beats and a fluid groove, comes organic percussion and a hazy atmospheric resonance. Deep and meditative, yet energetic and uplifting, it’s a sublime slice of melodic minimalism that is sure to delight fans of deeper, dreamy house all the way up through the progressive spectrum. 'Drama' meanwhile, is a touch more direct with crisp percussion and a rolling, proggy groove. Although the first act feels quite laid back it's the main break which shifts the narrative. Following a near two minute stretch of bassy rumblings, quirky electronics and uniquely tailored drums comes a warm rush into a driving and mildly euphoric finale. The third and final original 'Decisions' is a touch more reflective in tone and rightly so as it's leaves a long lasting impressive of the EP. Once again a near two minute break lies at the core of piece and it's this cinematic soundscape which ultimately captures your imagination, building just a touch of tension as the playful, bulbous groove returns for a joyous conclusion.

Balkan Connection has been on a major roll with remixer selection of late and this release reveals an all star cast again in GMJ and Dimuth K. First up Aussie artist GMJ takes the title track 'Nature' into a dreamy, progressive minded place with amazing results. He really is a master of layering texture and harmony, with the end result being a collage of sound that would you just want to float in. Safe to say he's accomplished that here with a deep yet uplifting take that's full of intricate details and emotive moments to send people home with a smile.

Equally hot is Dimuth K who has captured the hearts of progressive music fans around the world. Long a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, the Sri Lankan artist provides another gorgeous remix here which has already been performing well with DJs pre-release. The main themes from the original translate in a less distinct and more rhythmic way, while a tonal top line continues to evolve and percolate with each successive loop. The main break is short and impactful, pushing the melodic narrative just a touch before melting down into a warm, redolent groove which should have the full attention of your dance floor. It rounds out another massive release from Balkan Connection who continue to lead the way for progressive music fans. Highly recommended.
