Miraculum – Wingless [Stellar Fountain]

The latest from Stellar Fountain finds label boss Miraculum presenting a new EP entitled 'Wingless'. After beginning the year with 'White Elephant', a track which highlighted the label's popular 'Signals From The Void VII' collection, the Hungarian artist now presents two more fresh productions alongside remixes from Hasith and CJ Peeton.

Beginning with the title selection Miraculum crafts a trippy yet emotional dance floor cut. Always managing to find a way to incorporate otherworldly elements with rhythm and groove is what continues to make the Hungarian's productions such a great listen. A muscular, key changing first act provides the set up for a piano led break which lightens the mood nicely before a finale of striking chord stabs and cosmic arps takes you home. The companion piece 'Bblz' ups the tempo considerably for a journey fuelled by layers of exotic percussion, ghostly vocal pads and fragmented melodies. Much like it's predecessor, the low end sounds absolutely enormous, providing amazing drive and shape for those haunting elements to work their magic.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Wingless' is Hasith. As one Sri Lanka's rising progressive music talents, the Colombo native comes off releases via Mango Alley and Sprout to deliver a powerful rendition here. Trending closer to the pure progressive sound Hasith reshapes the groove and rhythmic flow into something sleeker and more hypnotic, all while keeping the wavy arps percolating throughout.

The release concludes with long time label artist CJ Peeton providing the second and final interpretation of 'Wingless'. Hungarian born but now based in Ireland, CJ splits time between the country's most well known progressive imprints Stellar Fountain and Dynamica, where the majority of his music has come out in recent years. Here he takes 'Wingless' into melodic house and techno territory with a tougher, more spacious groove and a wealth of trippy effects which ultimately provide the running narrative throughout. An excellent remix from CJ which rounds out another well constructed release for both Miraculum and Stellar Fountain. Highly recommended.
