Mind Conspiracy – Optic [Eat My Hat Music]

Following on from the success of Sajith Prakash's 'Light Years', Ziger's Eat My Hat Music welcomes Mind Conspiracy back to the label for a new EP. As one of the label's core contributors, Greek artist Mind Conspiracy has developed into a force within the melodic house and techno underground. A decade's worth of discography credits are highlighted by eleven Eat My Hat projects, many of which find the fast rising phenom collaborating with label boss Ziger. For the label's latest release however, Mind Conspiracy returns in solo capacity for a three-track showcase entitled 'Optic'.

Beginning with the title selection, Mind Conspiracy crafts a sleek framework of punchy beats and well carved grooves. Its rhythmic energy grows quickly, as delicate arps and spacious percussion add drive across the first act, perfectly setting up a catchy lead theme. It's this contemporary synth swagger which shifts the narrative into emotive territory, as nostalgic chord changes and a tastefully tense break spearhead a groove-centric finale.

Selection two 'Cluster Strike' moves closer to peak time territory as pace and tempo rise. A tougher complement of beats lays the backbone for spastic effects and driving percussion to build copious amounts of energy. It's this relentless drive which carries the dark dystopian sensibilities into the break, melting down to a cinematic swirl as punishing beats re-emerge for a maniacal machine-funk finale.

The release concludes in fine fashion with the darker monochromes of 'Unicorn'. Continuing the peak time vibes of its predecessor, layers of frantic percussion and devilish effects unite atop machine-gun style grooves and ravenous rhythms. Building to a charged apex across the centrepiece, wavy arps percolate against a backdrop of icy pads and percussive flurries, eventually giving way to a thumping, effects-laden finale. Dark and heady in equal measure, it rounds out what is an inspired EP from Mind Conspiracy, an artist who returns to Eat My Hat Music in triumphant fashion and continues to rise up through the melodic house and techno landscape as 2022 moves into it's fourth quarter.
