Featured Sidebar Releases Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic – Nostalgia [ICONYC] By Release Promo Posted on 10th March 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest from John Johnson’s ICONYC imprint welcomes Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic back to the label for a brand new single. The much loved trio and Mistique Music label bosses last appeared on the US imprint in July of last year with their ‘Witchcraft’ single. Now embarking on their third offering for the label, Michael, Levan and Stiven present ‘Nostalgia’ alongside remixes from Robert Babicz, Interaxxis and Plus Thirty. As one of the more diverse acts in progressive house you always end up with something fresh from Michael, Levan and Stiven. On ‘Nostalgia’ they draw on reflective themes and timeless instrumentation for a temperate, summery vibe. The production is pristine and undeniably warm, making for an inviting seven minute journey. Although bright and melodic it never sounds over done; rather classy, restrained and perfect for a broad range of dance floors. First up on the remixes and making his much anticipated ICONYC debut is Robert Babicz. A long and storied career in electronic music has seen the German artist showcase his work on Bedrock, Systematic and his own Babiczstyle imprint. For his ‘Nostalgia’ interpretation Robert keeps the warm moods from the original while adding an acidic underbelly and lighter melodic complement. The end result is a spacious dreamy rendition that’s loaded with character and groove. Definitely one for those sunset sessions. One of Argentina’s hottest production acts has undoubtedly been Interaxxis. Emiliano Folgar & Martin Kazez make up the Interaxxis production duo and have already notched their place amongst the progressive house elite with releases on Hope Recordings, Replug and Sudbeat. Known for their pure progressive ethos their ‘Nostalgia’ interpretation sounds tailor made for a Hernan Cattaneo or Nick Warren set. On a back bone of chugging beats and rippling grooves comes electric synths and astral effects. Operating as a dub essentially, the focus is on flow and dance floor dynamics, both of which are nailed perfectly. Not without emotive moments the third act does venture into melodic territory with classic chord changes and a luminous atmospheric glow. The release concludes with PlusThirty returning to the label following their remix of BP’s ‘G-Force’ from November of last year. The Greek duo take ‘Nostalgia’ into a deeper, dubbier zone with amazing results. Frayed vocal elements trail through the framework before a gentle theme adds cadence and bounce. This one excels on rhythm and groove, as a progressive fan, these are just smooth organic loops you want to listen to endlessly. Perfectly suited to early or late night and definitely something to leave an impression. Great remix from Plus Thirty which rounds out one of ICONYC’s all time best releases. Highly recommended.
