Michael A - Endless Time [Juicebox Music]

Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music continues a memorable 2017 with a new single from Michael A this week. The Belarus based artist has risen up through the progressive house ranks at a remarkable rate since appearing on the scene in 2012. Consistently good productions combined with a prolific release schedule eventually led to support from the genre's elite, including Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur. Releases on Sudbeat Music and Cid Inc's Replug Records have been recent discography highlights. Now making his much anticipated debut on Juicebox Music, Michael presents his latest single entitled 'Endless Time' alongside remixes from Blusoul and rAin.

There was a time when the majority of Michael's productions were on the darker tip but the last two years has seen him diversify his sound quite a lot. On 'Endless Time' he presents something deeper with smooth meditative qualities. It's free flowing, arpeggiated storyboard is incredibly captivating, playing perfectly off melodic motifs and wispy atmospherics, which seem to find their place at precisely the right moments. Add to that a very rhythmic and dance floor inspired groove and you've got one of Michael most satisfying and also polished productions of the year.

Juicebox label boss Praveen Achary always seems to find exactly the right remixers for every project and I believe both his reputation and the label's commitment to quality gets the best out of them each and every time. Blusoul is far from prolific and that makes all his releases hugely anticipated. Here he presents his first production of the year taking 'Endless Time' into bigger, more progressive minded territory. As always the production is pristine and he's added a vocal storyboard which makes the mix extra special for me. Incredibly dreamy and with enough variation to be quite compelling. The main arp has been overhauled as well, into something tighter and more cosmic sounding, melding perfectly with the killer effects which captivate every step of the way. A killer remix from Blusoul and with forthcoming material on Flow Vinyl it looks to be a great year ahead for the Greek artist.

The second and final interpretation of 'Endless Time' is provided by rAin who is making his first appearance on the label. The Mauritius based artist has been a driving force in the development of his country's progressive house scene. As a well known DJ there, he has shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Stephen Bodzin and Patrice Baumel. Now also getting recognized for his productions, rAin has delivered excellent music for Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music and MNL imprint's as well as Michael A's Genesis Music. For his Juicebox debut he takes 'Endless Time' into progressive techno territory which proves to be a great complement to the previous two versions. Tough, driving and loopy it commands a large presence early. The breakdown is where the magic happens for me, beautifully crafted, almost cinematic in a sense as it ebbs and flows through wispy motifs and textural drifts, eventually peaking with sheets of synth euphoria, before melting back down to a throbbing groove. Chilling stuff and a great way to round out another well executed release for Juicebox Music. For my money one of the best progressive house labels around at the moment. Highly recommended.
