Roger Martinez – Flow EP [Flow Vinyl]

Pena's Flow Vinyl continues its strong momentum this year by welcoming Roger Martinez to the label this week. Following a slight hiatus the Portuguese imprint returned at the beginning of the 2017 and has now racked up an impressive string of releases featuring music from Andre Sobota, Astronivo, Jonas Saalbach, Juan Deminicis, Rich Curtis and more. This week finds the label presenting perhaps it's biggest release of the year from Roger Martinez.

Revered for his pristine and stylistically diverse productions Roger has found a home Lost & Found, Replug, GEM Records, Sudbeat Music and more. Now making his much anticipated debut on Flow Vinyl, Roger presents three excellent productions beginning with the title cut 'Flow'. Immediately you get a feel for the organic quality of what Roger does with warm, spongy kicks, mystical atmospheres and gentle melodic designs. The title is quite apt as this is a piece which excels because of a smooth storyboard, it all sounds quite effortless, even the amiable rise during the break, while mildly euphoric just adds to its creamy flow.

The remaining two tracks complete this varied collection perfectly as 'Force' ups the tempo, bringing the narrative into something a touch more progressive minded. Once again the free flowing nature of Roger's work really shines here with rippling waves of bass powering the foundation as astral designs and cosmic effects fill in the framework. The detail is quite astounding and it's meditative powers can't be overstated, definitely one to get locked into and just free your mind. 'Relic' meanwhile closes the release out with a timeless techno sensibility. Congruent in design, it's another perfectly modelled, percussive journey, with intricate synth work and a layered breakdown that delivers just the right amount of tension for the road home. Three stunning productions from Roger and a very strong release for Pena's Flow Vinyl. Highly Recommended.
