Nicolas Rada - Glass Shatters [Superordinate Music]

Superordinate Music returns this week with a massive single from Nicolas Ruiz. Following a release on Luis Bondio's Classound Recordings to begin the year, the Argentinean artist now makes his Superordinate debut alongside remixes from Michael A, Robert R. Hardy and Nick Varon.

A controlled release schedule, Beatport chart success and support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren has made Nicolas one of the brightest young talents in progressive house. His latest entitled 'Glass Shatters' features vocals which is not something we usually hear from him. As usual the drum work is on point and the vocal phrases are incredibly hypnotic. It's a steady build up to a break where the vocal narrative gets expanded upon before the groove strips down allowing a great sense of space. A bit of a throwback to the classic, vocal led tracks from the golden years of progressive house in a way and a great one at that.

Superordinate has assembled a great remixer cast here with Michael A kicking things off. The Belarus based artist and Genesis Music boss goes darker, putting the vocals to great use. An acidic underbelly complements the groovy framework while the vocals have been reprocessed into something a touch more ethereal and mysterious. It packs some serious punch so definitely one for an up for it dance floor.

Robert R. Hardy meanwhile goes deeper and spacious all while using the vocals to great effect. There's a sense of despair here which you don't quite get from the previous versions and it puts the vocal into a different context. Robert's groove crafting prowess can't be overstated and it's one that should find favour with progressive and deep house DJs alike.

The final interpretation is provided by Nick Varon who is making his first appearance on the label. The Greek artist and Hernan Cattaneo favourite closes the release out strong with a rolling, groovy and incredibly trippy rendition. A long history behind the decks has served Nick well as there's a great sense of dance floor dynamics here and it also sits as wonderful complement to the other versions. Strong release from Superordinate Music once again. Don't miss it.
