Maxi Degrassi debuts on Magician On Duty this week with the much anticipated ‘Bells In The City’ single. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist has been carving a path into spectrum's of deeper, dreamy house. Recent releases on Pablo Bolivar’s Seven Villas have showcased his most mature work to date, perfectly leading to his Magician On Duty debut alongside remixes from Armen Miran, Bona Fide and Erdi Irmak.

Laid back and oh so inviting, it is the original mix which gets the release underway. Aptly titled, it’s deep, dulcet bells blend beautifully with exotic percussion and organic themes. Undeniably soulful, yet quite concise at just over six minutes, it’s free flowing narrative leads to a second act of shimmering tranquillity, before hopeful moments melt down to a delicate sizzle, as the warm groove returns for a heartfelt finale.

Magician On Duty always seems to call upon just the right remixer cast and they’ve done so once again with a talented trio of artists who add depth and variety to the release, beginning with Armen Miran who makes his label debut following releases on Earthy Delights and Sol Selectas. The Los Angeles based artist ups the tempo a touch while opening up the groove for a wealth of inviting motifs. From ghostly vocals to subtle shades and tones, it's an intricately detailed journey that brings the ethos of the original closer to the dance floor.

Next up and returning to the label for his second appearance is Bona Fide. Hailing from Belgrade but now calling New York home, the Serbian artist lays claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Nie Wieder Schlafen and Shanti Moscow Radio. Now returning to Magician On Duty for his second remix, Bona Fide provides a gorgeous interpretation of 'Bells In The City'. This is a touch more reflective in tone than the previous two versions and thus a bit more contemplative. Wistful moments during the main break resonate on a profound level, nicely accented with finely tuned percussion before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing finale.

The release concludes with label artist Erdi Irmak returning for his third appearance. The Turkish producer continues his deeper ways following an EP for Nick Warren's The Soundgarden along with remixes for Soundteller and Balkan Connection's BC2. Beautifully constructed, the mix follows a tranquil tonal theme on a bed of dulcet beats and mildly afro drums. It’s emotive prowess is undeniable with glistening sonic details and glowing bells intertwining for a heart stealing main break. Another stunning remix from Erdi which caps off an excellent release for Magician On Duty once again. Highly Recommended.
