HAFT – Spiral [Movement Limited]

Tash’s Movement Limited celebrates their 50th release by welcoming HAFT to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Iran, Sam Nasehi and Amir Subb make up the HAFT production duo. A 2017 debut on Pipe & Pochet would establish the duo's blend of mesmerizing synths and exotic percussive arrangements, a sound which would lead them to releases via Akbal Music, Do Not Sit and Hoomidaas across the last half-decade. 2024 would see HAFT continue to prosper and choose their projects wisely, notching standout releases for Clubsonica, Mango Alley, RKP and Warung Recordings. Movement Recordings has also been a landing spot for HAFT, with their label debut coming in 2024 as part of the label’s popular ProgNoesis series, a release which was followed by a 2025 remix of 'Sorry I’m Late' by Kyotto. Now, adding the label’s Limited division to their resume, HAFT debuts on the imprint with ‘Spiral’.

Beginning with ‘Spiral’, the duo continues to explore the progressive blueprints from which they have made their name. A tough DJ friendly intro sets the pace for swing heavy rhythms, driving percussion and timeless chord stabs to layer a chunky bassline. As the main break commences, the duo reaffirms their ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge, through a combination of spectral synths and spastic effects, before confidently returning to the groove for a meditative finale.

Beneath the hypnotic qualities of ‘Spiral' lies the equally enchanting vibes of 'EOAN'. Sam and Imir expound their progressive vision here, with haunting vocal pads and dark chord stabs blanketing warm beats and sweeping effects. Clever arpeggiated co-actions marry shimmering sonics across an emotive break, before shifting energy into a charged finale.
