The Russian artist made his debut on the Russian imprint in June of last year with his well received ‘Falling Parts’ EP. Support from Guy J, Petar Dundov and more international talents made it one of Ewan’s most sought after releases of year. Now returning to the label for a much anticipated follow-up Ewan presents his ‘Whispers’ EP. Over the course of Ewan’s career his productions have gained scope and diversity. The lead track ‘Whispers’ demonstrates that perfectly with it’s unique cross genre sound. With a framework rooted in tech house but a dark, effects laden progressive pulse it’s another uniquely constructed track from Ewan. Undeniably rhythmic, it’s rolling cadence, fiery stabs and percussive waves lead to an astral break of the highest order. Through a maze of supersonic effects comes a tense build and absolutely face melting drop. A massive creation from Ewan. The companion piece ‘Expert’ is a touch more techno inspired with a stripped, punchy groove anchoring the piece. The dark, mysterious ethos of the EP continues however as tension filled atmospherics and piercing electronic clusters fill the air with dramatic overtones. A trippy main break advances the narrative into even headier territory with a brooding tension and almost paranoid sense, before a subtle build unleashes the groove for what should be a great moment on the dance floor. It rounds out two great productions from Ewan which once again show just how far his artistic scope can reach. Highly recommended.
