Ewan Rill & K Loveski debut on Francesco Pico's Magnitude Recordings with the 'Broh Canville' EP. Since first partnering up in August of 2017 for an EP on PHW Elements the studio synergy between Ewan and Loveski has only gotten stronger. A string of quality outings for Balkan Connection, Movement Recordings and Bonzai Progressive soon followed, eventually leading them to a remix for Tripp Baronner’s Yang imprint earlier this month. Now landing on Pico's perpetually hot Magnitude Recordings, the duo present a three track artist showcase.

‘Broh Canville’ kicks the EP off with a deep, spacey quality that immediately sucks you in. The duo's innate ability to craft a broad spectrum of progressive styles has always been impressive and they take square aim at the dance floor here. It’s funky, driving groove carries a large presence while a complement of quirky hooks and playful melodies work beautifully together. Mysterious vocal fragments add further depth, particularly during the main break before a tasteful build sparks a groovy final act.

The duo go deeper on ‘Diveo’ but the dance floor appeal is just as high with a roomy, swing heavy foundation leading the charge. In keeping with the EP’s ethos the mood is quite quirky with a variety of catchy hooks and a bouncy cadence which is sure to please your dance floor. There's a unique design quality throughout, honestly it doesn't sound like much of what's around at the moment which is really refreshing, and the main break delivers some serious heat once again with a powerful build and lovely third act which elevates the mood through glowing atmospherics.

The release concludes with ‘Lantana’ which would have to be the collection’s most peak time flavoured track. The tempo and drive come up but the flow remains smooth while it's powerful rhythms are undeniably infectious. Once again vocal fragments add a wonderful touch, very emotive and timeless, acting almost as a complementary instrument, building momentum with each successive loop as layers of percussion and billowing bass stabs power forward. With three hearty breaks across it's seven minute running time your attention stays locked with anticipation, and each time your greeted with an energy shift of the highest order. It rounds out another exceptional collection of music from Ewan and Loveski which would have to be considered their most unique and creative work to date. A great signing for Francesco Pico and Magnitude Recordings. Highly recommended.
