Evegrem – Fobos [Strangers Beats]

Strangers Beats arrives this week with their inaugural release from Evegrem. Rising out of Cordoba, the Argentinean imprint will act as a companion to Antrim's hugely popular Or Two Strangers imprint, while forging it's own path into the progressive underground. The label's first release finds Evegrem presenting a two track EP alongside remixes from Carl OS and Sebastian Sellares.

Nicolas Moresco aka Evegrem hails from Cordoba and first arrived on the progressive music scene in April of 2018. Just over a year later he has already notched releases on 3rd Avenue, Auditen Music and Stellar Fountain's Astrowave division. Now debuting on Strangers Beats he presents two of his most anticipated productions beginning with 'Fobos'. It’s warm, rolling groove is perfectly contoured, adorned with detailed percussion, shimmering arps and subtle shades and tones. The second of two motifs highlights the main break, veering into emotive territory, before warm bass swells and waves of atmosphere pulls you into a drummy build and huge finale. The companion piece ‘Ofiuco’ moves into deeper territory with a rolling groove, smooth rhythms and waves of atmosphere. Melodic and mystical throughout, the piece flows through musical fragments and charming effects, before a solemn break entices the narrative with a poignant moment.

Following releases on Or Two Strangers and Balkan Connection's BC2 division, Carl OS provides the lone interpretation of 'Fobos'. Deep and driving, the groove commands a large presence as smooth chord changes and percussive waves adorn the framework. Evolving with a veteran’s savvy, timely shifts and clever transitions provide dynamic moments across the first act, perfectly setting up a glowing break which should resonate incredibly well on the dance floor.

The release concludes with Sebastian Sellares providing the lone interpretation of 'Oficuo'. Once known as Monje, Sebastian has now adopted his given name for all his productions it seems. It's been a seamless transition and the Argentine's music has never been stronger as he moves forward. Here he rounds out the release with another gorgeous creation that's already become a favourite amongst some of progressive music's top tastemakers. Taking a cue from the original, the Cordoba resident adds layers of melody and colour for a fuller, more musical version that rounds out the release on a strong note. And so begins the journey for Strangers Beats, looking forward to seeing what the label brings but with Or Two Strangers behind it progressive music fans should all be following along for the ride.
