Dousk – Psychobabble [Beat Boutique]

DJ Zombi’s Beat Boutique continues it’s incredible streak with a new single from Dousk. The Greek artist is no stranger to the Israeli imprint having delivered the massive ‘Whisper Unit’ in August of last year. Now following releases on Juicebox Music and Movement Recordings Dousk finds his way back to Beat Boutique with ‘Psychobabble’ alongside remixes from D-Nox & K.A.L.I.L. and Out of Sorts.

Through almost two decades of production work Dousk has managed to stay not only relevant but at the top of the creative game. No two productions sound alike and he continues to follow that trend with ‘Psychobabble’. It’s rare you hear something so big from the Greek artist but this is quite simply a massive track. Huge and commanding from the outset it’s meaty groove, ominous vocals and dramatic synth elements are perfect for a hungry dance floor. A well crafted break seals its peak time appeal with a short but impactful build resulting in one of the most powerful drops you’ll hear all year.

The remixes take the track in two decidedly different directions with D-Nox & K.A.L.I.L. opting for a more stripped back techno inspired approach. The framework is quite compact with punchy beats and tight rhythms while a meandering melodic theme plays nicely throughout the first act. The break is a journey unto itself, evolving from spacey arps into a maze of shimmering clusters before melting down to a warm, pulsating drop that's going to light up your dance floor.

The release concludes with the mysterious Out Of Sorts duo making their label debut. Hailing from New Zealand the identity of this project remains a mystery to many but with a discography that includes releases on Kompakt and KATERMUKKE their music has become widely regarded. Here they put a fresh spin on ‘Psychobabble’ to round out the release in style. From it’s all encompassing, mutoid low end to sizzling acid lines and waves of percussion it’s a futuristic slice of techno for the ages. It rounds out another huge release for Beat Boutique who continue to rise with each successive outing.
