As one of electronic music’s most beloved duos, Germany’s D-Nox & Beckers have continued to thrill fans with both cutting edge music and enlightening DJ sets. Landing releases on Bedrock Records, Sudbeat Music and Jeudi Records, coupled with appearances at the world’s largest festivals have made the duo a favourite both amongst their fans and contemporaries. Now appearing on Beat Boutique for the first time, D-Nox & Beckers present their latest single ‘Polyacid’ alongside remixes from Navar, Definition and Stereo Underground. As the title would suggest, the original mix is constructed around a character drenched acid line which quickly morphs it’s way into your heart. It sizzles with effervescent qualities as a warm, perfectly contoured low end rumbles and waves of percussion build momentum. Eventually melting down in the main break, the narrative shifts as subtle chord stabs push the rhythmic storyboard to greater heights, building tension and drama before a classy drop seals it’s brilliance. Beat Boutique has assembled an all-star remixer cast led by Navar who makes his label debut here. Through releasing material on Guy J’s Lost & Found Records and Canadian behemoth microCastle, the Dutch artist emerged in 2014, firmly establishing himself in the world of deep melodic house. His unique approach to composition is highly regarded and continues to be a favourite of the world’s largest DJs, including Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Always a creative remixer, Navar takes ‘Polyacid’ into his world of organic percussion and redolent rhythms for a ten minute journey into the cosmos. With free flowing aesthetics and attention to detail at a premium, this is a version that will not only stand the test of time but gets better with each successive listen. Meanwhile also making his label debut is Dimitri Schnider aka Definition who comes off releases on Einmusika, Parquet Recordings and Stil Vor Talent. The Swiss artist is renowned for his pristine cross-over style productions and as such has become a regular in Beatport’s Melodic House & Techno charts. For his ‘Polyacid’ interpretation Definition takes a more musical approach, where poignant pianos and wistful strings unite for moments of sonic bliss. Timely drum fills of the afro variety make for many dynamic moments along the way, while a chugging groove keeps a buoyant cadence throughout. The release concludes with Stereo Underground returning to the label for his second appearance. The Israeli artist is famed for releases on Guy J’s Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music. Having first appeared on Beat Boutique in April of last year with a remix of Spuri’s ‘Khaleesi’, Stereo Underground now returns, capping the release off with a superb take on ‘Polyacid’. Astral in ethos, a spacey arp takes centrestage, flowing through bands of modulation as it slowly burrows into your subconscious, before melting down during the break for a stripped back drop that’s sure to play well on a clued up dance floor. It rounds out what would have to be considered one of Beat Boutique’s all time best releases with Navar’s remix sitting as our pick of the bunch. Highly recommended.
