Bob the Groove – The Awakening [Skanda Records]

Skanda Records begins the new year by welcoming Bob the Groove to the label for his debut single. David Prie aka Bob the Groove first emerged in 2015 with a release via John Johnson's 238W (which later became ICONYC), before going on to land projects with Massive Harmony Records, PHW Elements and Stellar Fountain. A defining moment in David's career came last year with the release of 'Was It' via Solomun's Diynamic imprint, a track which still sits a top his best sellers. Now as 2022 begins, Bob the Groove adds Skanda Records to his resume with 'The Awakening'.

Coming in at a concise six minute running time, 'The Awakening' finds Bob the Groove crafting a nostalgic slice of progressive house. Delicate arps and a warm, key changing groove set the pace for driving percussion and elastic-like lines. The main break serves to build tension and emotion through placid pads and subtle modulation, before perfectly seguing into a glowing finale.
