Another Life Music celebrates it’s 50th release by welcoming Blue Cell back to the label for a brand new single. Hailing from Germany, Joachim Broeckers and Nicolas Albrecht make up the Blue Cell production duo. The Dormagen residents first appeared on the Swiss imprint in May of this year with a remix of Clark Wohlert's 'Mondfeuchte', while also landing 2020 releases on 3rd Avenue, Massive Harmony Records and Stellar Fountain. With well over a decade in the game and fresh off a remix for Balkan Connection, Blue Cell now return to Another Life for their first single entitled ''Schwarm Der Fische'.

Looking back over their discography it's evident the studio synergy between Joachim and Nicolas has continued to grow. Now with their partnership in it's thirteenth year the duo present another timeless take on progressive music with 'Schwarm Der Fische'. It's DJ friendly intro works detailed percussion and phasing noise over a bed of manicured beats and undulating bass. Deep and devilish in it's infancy, this foreboding nature quickly becomes infectious, before poignant tones and smooth chord changes add an emotional slant to the narrative. Layers of percussion then drive momentum forward, setting the course for a stunning array of effects and short by impactful break which ultimately seals it's brilliance.

The two remixes included are in fact supplied by Blue Cell themselves under two new alias' they've created beginning with Floating Resonance. Warmth and detail are at a premium here with an inviting groove exuding character and shape, while aquatic effects and harmonic drifts converge for a lovely sense of flow. Opening up your sensory receptors further is a gorgeous cross cultural vocal, drifting gently under the surface, before getting washed away into an astral sounding break. Perhaps the most emotive moment on the release, the centrepiece exudes hope and positivity through charming motifs and character rich design, ultimately sitting at the core of this ten minute journey and setting the course for a nostalgic finale.

Rounding out the release is Blue Cell's Lord of Progressive remix which proves to be a great complement to the previous two versions. Rugged and rhythmic in all the right ways, it's tougher more deliberate groove and concise narrative makes for a great dance floor sensibility. A tension filled, siren-like tone builds anticipation as it fades in and out of prominence across the first act, while emerging arps and trippy effects provide a bridge into the main break. Cavernous in scope, the one minute centrepiece melts down to a gentle sonic sizzle, as tension subsides before segueing into a commanding drop and tripped out final movement.

Blue Cell have certainly flexed their studio chops across this release, detailing three versions which stand on their own in terms of depth and creativity, making for a superb debut EP on Another Life Music. Highly recommended.
