Biskuwi – Occidens [Mercurial Tones]

The much anticipated first release from Mercurial Tones finds label boss Biskuwi presenting his new single 'Occidens'. The Swedish artist developed a passion for music well over two decades ago, having played guitar in several bands before eventually developing a love for electronic music in 2010. His deep, progressive minded sound has found a home on some of the genres most long standing imprints in Natura Viva, PHW Elements and Soundteller Records. Now embarking on his most ambitious project to date, Biskuwi launches his Mercurial Tones imprint with 'Occidens'.

Mysterious yet charming, the piece flows through dubby motifs and gaseous atmospheres, before warm overlays entice the narrative with emotive moments. Flawlessly tailored for a late night play it's redolent rhythms and ghostly vocals sit atop a smooth, hip swinging groove, before effortlessly transitioning into a poignant break. Striking tones dominate the centrepiece, playing off the otherworldly surroundings before a flurry of organic drums shifts energy into a purring finale. A stunning creation from Biskuwi which makes for a superb debut for Mercurial Tones, who appear to be on the cusp of big things as 2019 moves forward. Highly recommended.
