Albert R. – Pitchblack [Clinique Recordings]

The latest release from Clinique Recordings welcomes Albert R. back to the label for a brand new single entitled ‘Pitchblack’. The Russian artist has found a comfortable home on the Russian imprint with this being his eighth appearance. Albert’s latest single promises to be his best yet and comes alongside remixes from Hot Tuneik and Imran Khan.

The original mix leads the release off and immediately commands a big presence with a rough and rugged low end. The narrative quickly shifts into something quite heavenly as a serene atmospheric overlay leads the track into its second act before shifting back to a gritty finale. A big track from Albert and no doubt great for the dance floor.

The first interpretation is provided by the perpetually on fire Hot TuneiK. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records label boss has found his place in the progressive underground where his groovy sound continues to dominate dance floors. For his ‘Pitchblack’ interpretation Hot takes the airy atmospheric storyboard and works that over a warm, rolling foundation for what results in a blissful eight minute journey. Undeniably groovy and one for the true progressive house aficionados out there.

The release concludes with Imran Khan returning to the label for his 13th appearance. Having recently remixed The Florist for Stellar Fountain, Imran now provides a wicked rendition of 'Pitchblack'. It's deep, rolling groove while energetic has a lovely warmth and the overall atmospheric resonance is tremendous. The most emotive moment on the release is perhaps the break. Beautifully crafted, it's balmy swells and wispy sonics are a delight for the senses, before a denser groove drops in for an impactful finale. A great remix from Imran which rounds out one of Clinique's best releases this year. Don't miss it.
