Abity return to Balkan Connection this week with a two track EP alongside remixes from MiraculuM and Srinivas. The Argentinean duo last appeared on the Serbian imprint in June of 2016 with their ‘Hostile Moon’ single. Now following releases on MNL and The Purr Abity return to Balkan Connection with ‘Huapi / Elements’.

Although Abity is probably best known for being a favourite of Nick Warren they are also regarded for their diverse sonic palette. On ‘Huapi’ the duo goes deep and dreamy with an array of stellar effects which they seem so apt at creating time and time again. The break however takes things further into emotive territory with creamy, dulcet tones and a trippy soundscape that perfectly sets up a groovy drop. ‘Elements’ is a touch more playful with a bouncy groove, processed vocals and lovely synth swells. The break just adds to the joyous nature with a wall of melodic fuzz eventually giving way to the breaky cadence which perfectly sets up a purring finale.

There are two remixes of ‘Elements’ beginning with MiraculuM who just dazzled us with his ‘Intimacy’ single on Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Now back on Balkan Connection for the tenth time the Stellar Fountain boss continues to impress with a beefed up rework of ‘Elements’. I’ve noted this before but it’s worth mentioning again, as time has gone on MiraculuM’s productions have become more suited to the dance floor and this mix is further evidence of that. A full, well sculpted groove immediately gives the track a big presence but once the full percussive complement and acid line is in it’s game over. This is a big track, but rather than focus on that monstrous acid line, Miraculum drops it out for a lighter more melodic bridge, eventually building the tension back up on through a to a playful finale.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Elements’ is provided by Srinivas who is making his label debut following an appearance on Balkan Connection’s Tech division in 2016. Hailing from Hyderabad, this is the Indian artist’s first production of the year and it does not disappoint. Clocking in at a concise six and a half minutes Srinivas uses the main themes in a smoother, sleeker framework which works remarkable well. A softer, elegant version of the original and a great way to round out the release. Awesome stuff from Balkan Connection.
