The third release from The Way Records finds label boss Oscar Vazquez collaborating with Rick Pier O'Neil for a new single alongside remixes from Anthony G and Brian Muszkat. It's been an auspicious beginning for the Spanish imprint, having delivered two incredible releases to begin their journey and ultimately setting the tone for what is a heavyweight collaboration.

With two storied artists such as Rick and Oscar you would certainly expect something special and they've more than delivered with 'Distance'. As solo artists both parties have an affinity for dark, ominous storyboarding and that more than holds true here with a bed of punchy beats, growling electronics and sheets of sweeping noise. It's pulsating energy quickly becomes hard to resist and just when a sonic sizzle is reached the duo pulls back the reigns for a buzzing, tension filled break to perfectly segue into an even headier finale.

Both remixers do a great job at ultilizing those amazing parts and crafting something complementary. First up is Anthony G who has been quiet since a remix for Stellar Fountain to end 2018. It's great to see something new from him and what an amazing remix he's delivered. The ominous vibe of the original is well maintained but there is a great emphasis on dynamic almost psychedelic audio. The storyboard of effects and sonic artefacts is really a feast for the senses, but it's the commanding groove which keeps the proceedings firmly planted on the dance floor. A massive remix from Anthony!

The release concludes with Brian Muszkat making his label debut following an excellent EP for Paul Hazendonk's MNL imprint. The Argentinean artist takes that dark energy and injects a crunchier, more rugged quality into the design, sitting as a nice alternative to it's predecessors. A chunky groove, robust rhythms and devilish modulation make for a hugely satisfying first act. It's a stripped back bridge which perfectly sets up a wondrously spacey break however. Almost emotive at points but still with an edgy undertone, it's not only a unique mood but it flows beautifully into an exhilarating final act. A big remix from Brian who continues to impress as 2019 moves forward. It caps off another well rounded release for Oscar Vazquez's The Way Records, who would have to be considered one of this years best new progressive house imprints. Highly recommended.
