Yeadon – Be Free EP [10 Steps North]

The latest release from 10 Steps North finds label boss Yeadon back in the spotlight with 'Be Free'. Upon making his debut on Tarnished Tracks in September of 2018, the UK artist went on to found the label while also having the first release licenced to Global Underground's 'Select 4' compilation. Support from Hernan Cattaneo and Cristoph has fuelled the hype surrounding Yeadon as he embarks on his most anticipated release to date.

Beginning with the title cut, Yeadon explores playful melodic concepts and warm nostalgic grooves. Building hypnotically; tepid beats, lively drums and smooth bass tones unite for a highly rhythmic, free flowing framework. Smooth chord changes deliver a subtle yet powerful shift in emotive energy, as a bouncy lead further saturates your senses. Coming to full fruition during the break, the musical narrative evolves through timely modulation and impassioned vocal elements, creating a blissful one minute interlude, complete glowing pads and heartfelt clusters, elegantly peaking and perfectly setting up a rousing finale.

Carrying a similar sonic aesthetic to it's predecessor, the companion piece 'Paradigm' finds Yeadon flexing the deeper side of his studio repertoire. Brilliantly produced, spacious melodies and blissful overlays play off a warm, enticing foundation perfectly. Reflective in tone, it’s emotive prowess is undeniable with gentle swells and pulsating rhythms intertwining for a powerful, ever evolving eight minute journey.

Two stunning productions from Yeadon which not only make for a hugely successful return to his 10 Steps North imprint, but also further cements that he is an artist operating at his creative peak. Highly recommended.
