Timujin – Eastern Promises (Original Mix) [trueColors]

4 min read

Timujin is no stranger to the twisting, spiritual rhythms of ethnic global music from all around the world. The co-founder of trueColors and Earthly Delights is known for drawing inspiration from memories of distant lands, this is clearly reflected in his earth-moving and spacious productions. His latest release ‘Eastern Promises’ marks his second on trueColors, is no exception.

Shamanic vocal samples are scattered through the track’s arrangement, accompanied by a steady shower of percussion and convulsive tribal drum shots. Due for release on February 23rd with ‘TrueColors’ – a label with striking intent to ‘channel an artist’s most honest version of their creations’. Timujin’s emotive and thought-provoking ensemble’s sit comfortably among the imprint’s raw and honest nature.

‘Growing Young’ features a slow-burning progression of deep piano chords and organic wooden percussive elements woven delicately between sub bass frequencies and soaring pads. Tumbling arpeggiators glisten elegantly in the outer reaches of the mix, leaving plenty of room for a consistently evolving bassline and strokes of rising FX. The EP concludes with final moment - ‘Himalayan Way’. Airy in its nature with swinging drums to guide the rhythm to an elevated marimba melody, Timujin is second to none at combining ethnic musical elements with driving techno danceability – the ‘Eastern Promises’ EP is a testament to his distinguished and sentimentally inspired sound.
